Dr. Henry H. Vafides passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, in Lakeland, Fla.

Henry was born on Jan. 25, 1925, to Christos and Irene Vafides in Hull, Mass.  He moved to Lakeland, Fla. in 2013. Henry was a Navy veteran serving during World War II.  He was a clinical psychologist with the Brockton School System.  Henry was of the Protestant faith.  He was a 65 year 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, Order of Eastern Star and a Bektash Shriner Clown.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Vafides; sons, Alan H. Vafides of Valpairaso, Fla., David C. Vafides of Windham, Donald A. Vafides (Irving Morgan) of Falls Church, Va. and Glenn S. Vafides (Hyon) of Aurora, Colo.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, William Vafides (Jane) of Hingham, Mass. and many nieces and nephews.
