Kenneth Blackmon

Kenneth Wayne Blackmon, age 78, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.  He was born on October 26, 1940 in Benton, the son of the late George Truett and Bessie Hicks Blackmon.  Kenneth graduated from Ouachita Baptist University and obtained a master's degree from Michigan State University. 

He was a teacher at Poyen and Malvern and from 1968 through 2000 he was a teacher and administrator for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Korea, Italy, England, Okinawa, Holland, Guantanamo Bay, Scotland and Belgium.  Kenneth was a member of Third Street Baptist Church and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.  In his free time, he enjoyed music, wood working and photography.  Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Blackmon and his daughter, Pamela Bailey.

 

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Blackmon of Arkadelphia, two daughters, Stephanie Phillips (Cameron) of North Little Rock and Cynthia McSwain of Greensboro, NC, son-in-law, Craig Bailey of Richmond, VA, one sister, Lillian Crenshaw of Baltimore, MD and four granddaughters.
