Vance Weekley

C. Vance Weekley, 75, of Pennsboro, WV, departed this life on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Vance was born September 7, 1945 in Pennsboro, WV, a son of the late Charles Lee and Juanita Bell (Nutt) Weekley. Vance was a lifelong educator. During his working career, he was a longtime professor at Glenville State College, a geography teacher at Pleasants County Middle School in Belmont, WV, and also worked for the Dept. of Defense as a teacher in Pirmasens, Germany and many other overseas locations. While he was at Glenville State, Vance served as an advisor for the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Vance was always listening and bettering his community. He was a current member of the Pennsboro City Council and was an active member of the Ritchie County Economic Development Authority. He was a longtime member of the Pennsboro United Methodist Church formerly known as Trinity United Methodist Church serving in every position in the church. He greatly enjoyed entertaining, cooking, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and going to auctions.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tony Poling (Lori); Stephanie Poling (Ed Gilmore); Audra Cunningham; Christopher Weekley; Tina Carpenter; David Weekley, and Cindy Weekley; great nieces and nephews, Betsy Boggs; Carson Poling; Nathan Cunningham, and Erica Bennett, and great great nieces and nephews, Landon Boggs and Jozey Boggs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David W. Weekley; sister, Myra Lee Purves; great nephew, Matthew Boggs, and longtime friend, Margaret Conrad.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Vance’s name be made to the Ritchie County Educational Trust or to the Ritchie County Humane Society.
