It was so good to see everyone at the Class of 67/68 reunion weekend on August 9th and 10th.  It was fun to catch up and find out what everyone had done with their lives.   We are talking about have some mini reunions a few times a year to keep in touch.    We'll let you know and be sure to join us if you can!!!!    Cathy

Yes, it was great to see so many classmates again and catch up on what  you have been up to. I am in Albany several times a year to visit family, and would love to get together for a mini reunion. Keep us posted, Cathy. Thanks again to all who worked to arrange the reunion. It was another memorable event. I look forward to keeping in touch.

Best to all,

Mary Beth

Thanks to all who worked so hard on the 67/68 reunion weekend.  Only one suggestion for the 49/50th  -  let's keep the classes together for all the events.  The mini reunions sound like a great idea.  Thanks again!  Kathy Seim Mokhiber

Sandy and I are sorry we missed the Mini R as well.  It's been a tough summer - Sandy's brother Doug (GCHS '75) passed away after an heroic three year struggle with cancer and the older relatives are getting along, as older relatives will do.  But for those of you soccer fans out there, we'll be down for the GCHS Boy's Soccer 50th reunion on 26/27 September.  If your idea of fun is watching a gaggle of Senior (40 and older) or Junior (younger than 40) alumni trying to recapture their youth, stop by DiCaprio Park in Guilderland sometime in the a.m. of 9/27 and have a good laugh. Coach Snyder will be there, and having seen him just a few weeks ago you'll be glad to know there's plenty of life after 70.  He looks great!

Gavin, thanks for the information.  I'm expecting Bob Schierbaum to be staying with me when he comes to town for the Soccer Reunion.  He didn't tell me about the event on 9/27.  I plan to be there, as it is an event that I should not miss.

I also regret not being able to make it for the Mini Reunion for this year but was cheered by the enthusiasm and support for soccer and was thrilled to here that coach Synder was doing well. He was a terrific coach. I truly miss the four years I played for GCHS and the great bunch of guys on the JV and Varsity teams in the mid-60s. Will definitely be there next year for the reunion!

Thanks to those who could make the August 8, 2015 GCHS Classes of '67 & '68 mini reunion event at Smokey Bones. We had 18 people, including 10 from our Class of '68 (Kathy Seim Mokhiber and her husband, Larry, Eileen Stephens Bray, Helen Batters Rowley, Betha Halvorsen Farron and her husband, Walter, Gavin Lowder, Pete Chakmakas, George Frakes, Ken Gralow, Bill Coton, me and my wife, Christine), 3 from the Class of 1967 (Dr. Eric Funk, Frank Daggett, & Jim Rulison), Bob Messercola from the Class of 1966 and his wife, Karen Stutz Messercola from the Class of 1970. We had a great time.

Terry- I'm sure that we'll be doing something (or somethings) in 2016.  We're hoping to find out what and when classmates want to do.  Stay tuned here and on our class' Facebook page.

Richard (Dick) Spohr (1929 - 2017)

Richard (Dick) Spohr settled in Altamont in 1957 where he was a physical education teacher and coach at the Guilderland Central School District for 33 years, retiring in 1990. Married for 60 years to his beloved, Adella (Dell) Walsh Spohr, the Spohr’s built a family that included three daughters, Susan Anne (d. 1979), Erica Terese (d. 1962 in infancy) and Carla Margaret.  He was a wonderful man, beloved teacher, and highly respected by his students, fellow coaches, and faculty. Quite simply, he will be missed.

Please join the Spohr family for Coach's Memorial Celebration on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 5 PM at the Orchard Creek Golf Course in Altamont.  A memorial service is planned to celebrate a man who was something special to a wide range of people. and he touched many lives.

RIP Coach!

If you plan to attend please contact Mark Williams (mwilliams114@nycap.rr.com) so we can give the Spohr family an idea as to how many plan to attend.  Thanks.

Thanks to Frank Daggett and the crew that helped put together an outstanding Class of 1967 reunion weekend.  The fact that it all went off so smoothly is a great credit to them.  That we only had 53 classmates turn out must've been discouraging to the organizers, but the committee kept moving forward, and it in fact it gave us more time to spend with each other.

Thanks to all who made the 50th such a great success! Even though I only attended Friday night's activity, I enjoyed my visit with all that I visited with. I appreciate all the work that Frank, Jim, and all did and I hope we don't loose touch! Yes Tom, I am still alive and kicking!!!!!

Dear fellow GCHS Classes of 1967 & 1968 classmates:

I have the sad news to announce the passing of Linda McCormick Hornbach (Class of 1968) and wife of John Hornbach (Class of 1968).  Linda passed away on October 14, 2021.

Linda was the administrator and creator of this website.  I do not know if the website shall be able to exist without the hard work of Linda in maintaining this website.  Certain features will not function without Linda, in particular the In Memory section listing departed classmates.  I hope we can find another administrator for the website.  If interested, please contact me by email or phone (see below).

Linda was instrumental in helping out with reunions in the past, particularly the Class of 1968 50th reunion held in October of 2018.  She will be dearly missed.  Linda rest in peace.

Regards,

David Stankavich, Class of 1968

Linda was my first girlfriend. We were in the 7th or 8th grade. I remember finally gathering up the courage to ask her to dance. I think I spent a whole dollar and bought her a necklace at Woolworths in Stuyvesant Plaza. You will be missed Linda!  My condolences to John and her family. Rest in peace Linda.  George Frakes

So sorry to hear of Linda's recent death. I had not seen her since graduation up until just before our 50th GCHS reunion in 1968. John Hornbach and Linda came out to Hawaii and I got to meet them here, and later at the Reunion in Guilderland. It was so nice to meet her after so many years. I was saddened when I found out that she had died of cancer. I send John my deepest condolences.
