Diane Clark (Hickey)

Diane Hickey, Port Orange, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, after a short illness. Diane was born Feb. 24, 1961, in Guntersville, Ala. In October 1986, she met Dr. Michael Hickey and on Oct. 10, 1988, they were married. The couple became a family of three when Dr. Hickey adopted Rachael, Diane's daughter by a former marriage, and then four when Michael Hickey II was born March 11, 1990. During their early years, the couple lived in Huntsville, Ala., where Diane worked first with Boeing as a data analyst for the Space Shuttle main engines. Later she worked for Rockwell International in their technical library and then at MSI Graphics as a graphics technician. She left her career at MSI in 1992 to spend full time at home with her family. The family remained in Huntsville until April 1998 when Dr. Hickey took a job with Clemson University and the family moved to Anderson, S.C. After four years in South Carolina, the family moved to Port Orange where Diane became a much-loved member of the Spruce Creek Fly-In community. She loved interior decorating and gardening and was well-respected for the original and creative decor of her home. She was an avid tennis player and active member of the community. Surviving are her husband, Michael; her son, Michael Hickey II, both of Port Orange; her daughter, Rachel; her parents, J.W. and Betty Clark; and her brother, Steven Clark, all of Guntersville, Ala. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Interfaith Chapel on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. Arrangements are by friends of the family.
