The sweetest man I ever knew. Roy Gene once dump me out of a wagon on Langley St. in River Oaks where we both were born. He was still telling me he was sorry he had done that when he passed away. It was kind of a joke between us. I never heard Roy Gene speak a bad word about anyone. We spent more time together as we got out of school, mostly because I was always playing basketball and Roy Gene was running with that bad West Birdville crowd, just kidding.
Roy Gene and I were considered bad kids by our grand mother cause we managed to create problems with all the animals and other cousins.
When Roy Gene was driving a frozen food 18 wheeler he would always stop and give Rhojean and me some frozen dinners when we lived in Austin and when Roy Gene retired from Gulf/Chevron his local manager and wife took Roy Gene,, his wife, stepson and his wife and Rhojean and I to Del Friscos for a retirement dinner, price tag $2856.00. Roy Gene loved the idea he could for once eat the things he had only heard about before, caviar was his favorite.
Roy Gene was the most honest, thoughtful and caring man I have ever known, I miss you cuz, everyday.
