i actually had the same question. i have 2 babies and my husband works craaaaazy hours at the hospital. so sometimes it's hard for me to commit to things in the evenings. are you getting a good turnout to help plan the reunion? have you heard that many people are going to it?

I was wondering the same things and also, do you have the date(s) for the reunion yet?

I was just writing to find out pretty much the same thing about the reunion. The decision on the location and the events for the reunion has it been made yet? Also when it comes to the events I wanted to ask something about that as well. How would the events work because as you all know alot of people from out graduating class have kids. Will it be certain days that kids will be welcome or will it be were child care will or can be on site of what ever latenight events are held?

I was talking with Regina Proctor and we tossed around doing a reunion based around Homecoming weekend. Games are now on Saturday afternoons. We thought a Friday evening Happy hour at a location like McFadden's, Saturday afternoon tailgate at Darling Stadium (the teachers already do one, so we could expand it a bit(11-2), the game (2-5), and then a formal reception/party that evening (8-12). We thought Sunday could be a travel day.

Regina doesn't know the dates yet, but says it will be around the end of Sept or the beginning of Oct. I am happy to call around to get estimates on venues, if need be.

Just an idea. I don't live in town and can't do weekday meetings, but a well planned weekend meeting I can try to swing.

I think that for one weekend...that we are planning a year in advance...those with kids/night jobs should be able to work something out to be able to attend night activities.

a daytime activity is cool...but we cant base the whole reunion on just daytime stuff. ya know.

chinita...your idea is cool.

what fundraisers are being held? any? are there any updates at all? david? :)

Chinita that is an awesome idea actually.I think that its cost effective as well. Fellowship with our fellow classmates is important; with that being said, we should try to have a section roped off on that particular friday at Mcfadden's (or wherever it may be)where we can all be together and not spread out and mixed up with the regular crowd. buit thats just my opinion because that would be kind of a meet and greet. I can arrange to have a night at Allure "The Champagne lounge" but it's in VA BEACh and I may be able to get it at no cost. its a small intimate lounge with a bar. Anyways thats a great idea!!

Can't make the meeting, but I'll suggest some places for the formal that I looked up when trying to plan my mom's birthday party. Derrick's suggestion not excluded.

David, I understand the frustration with the turnout on the meetings. I cannot be there Tuesdays or Thursdays since I coach in Smithfield. However, I will try and look for places to hold an event or do something outside of the meetings...just let me know what the outcome is for the formal or whatever is on the table.

WOW HISTORY Museum!!!lol.... really close to home. I could walk there, literally! lol then again I was thinking about the VA AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM....Chinita you know Ive Never been inside Mcfaddens. I never knew that it was that nice inside....I must retract my lounge idea (although its nice inside there as well)Mcfaddens is a great place. Why don't we see if the school would let us use the cafe for the formal! lol....i'm so joking. I am going to keep checking on somethings as well to see what i can come up with I may be able to pull some strings I know a couple of people.

I have worked a couple of catering jobs at the Virginia Living Museum and at the Freeman Center at CNU. I know a couple of caterers that could give us a relatively good deal on food and drinks. My uncle rents out Margarita machines and also does full bar services. The caterer is called By George Catering out of Williamsburg and he has a large menu of things. They do several events at these locations and are very familiar with what they can or cannot do. If you want me to make any calls or do anything let me know.

also another place we can check into is the ultra lounge but that in va beach also but its owned by people that graduated in 1999 and 2000. we might also want to look at maybe renting out a lounge from one of the socials groups as well.
