I just spent a very busy weekend in Erie attending my niece's wedding. We arrived Thursday evening in time for the rehearsal and dinner. My daughter and son were in the wedding party and my brother in law and I gave away the bride, and my wife was the guest book attendant as well as food and beverage provider for the wedding party all day Friday at the church. The wedding was Friday evening. My son and I spent the day Friday baby sitting for the children of another niece. Four boys, 10, 7, 4, and 2. I had diaper duty and bathtime duty for the first time in a long time. My daughter and the other bridesmaids had hair and makeup appointments and then hung out at the church getting ready. The wedding went off without a hitch and the reception was lots of fun. I will post some photos once we download them off the camera.
We spent Saturday afternoon with family at the Erie Zoo, always worthwhile. I got to go to the Plymouth for lunch and we went to some new restaurant at the dock where the Buoy used to be for dinner. We stocked up on candy at Pulakos. We also got in meals from Barbatos and Ricardos. Still good.
This was my first vist to Erie since 2004. My old house is for sale, as well as the Van Dykes old house. Some changes in South Shore Village. Trees are bigger. The concrete streets have been paved over with macadam and the curbs have been removed. Mailboxes are at the curb instead of on the house, except on Harbor and Aaron Road. Progress?
We saw the Niagara. We didn't get to the beach. We went to church Sunday, saw Sue Garfields parents but not Mark Dalglish's.
My mom, brother Jim and his wife, sister Sue and her husband, three nieces and a nephew, and four great nephews were all in town so we didn't have much time for anything but family stuff. I will try to get back to Erie before six more years elapse.
