We had fun at Sideline's on the 17th.  So much fun that Matt Duckett is throwing a bon-fire this Friday at his house and I'll be there for sure.  I'm sure you all got the e-mail.  A lot of new faces at Sidelines.  A few I hadn't seen since we graduated and it was wonderful to see them again.

On a sad note, Patty Slomski's mother just passed away so keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Don't wait for me, I won't be making it.  I am in California through Friday and then heading to Seattle until 7/28.  Work, work, work.

The other reason I won't be there is I am afraid someone will try to relive their youth by throwing my hat into the fire!

See, it's always all about me.

Okay Jeff, you can get here in just a couple of hours, hop on a plane.  Jane's here and you're supposed to be too, and Brad, I waited all winter for you to show up in Katy.  I kept making the margaritas and you never showed and I kept having to drink them all by myself.  Maybe this winter huh?  Besides, you should show too.  What's Pyatuming sp? compared to Ducketts bonfire in a thunderstorm??  It's looking kinda bleak out there right about now.

Well, we had a great time at Matt's.  It stormed but it was still great fun.  Since he raised his hand to host the impromptu event, he's now on the preferred list of places to get together from now on.  What a place.  Tons of land with a panoramic view of the lake, awesome house that he designed and built, the perfect place to get together and we all appreciated his generosity.  Terri Land and Kathy King showed up and it was wonderful to see them.  Two more people I hadn't seen since high school.

Went to the Indians game last night. Happened to be close by when a misguided jackwagon decided it was a good idea to wear a Miami Heat LeBron James jersey to the game. He got booted. I got interviewed about it on TV today. It's always something.

Nice interview, Paul!!!  How did you manage to pull that one off?  Must be those massive connections you have in Ohio !!!

Yes, I do have to agree with you that he was doing it on purpose.  You can just tell by the way he was acting, etc.  Total "jackwagon" like you said!

You, on the otherhand, looked mighty handsome at the lunch table!

Living in Central PA, not familiar with the term "jackwagon", so I had to look it up on the Urban Dictionary:  http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jackwagon   Not exactly what I expected, but certainly applicable.  Shame on me, I thought it might connote some sexual miscreant with an unusual fetish.

It has been my experience that TV stations discriminate against those who are unadorned.  For example, they have never let me on their precious local news, they always interview the hirsute guy and leave me out in the cold with my bald pate and personal perspective kept to myself....not that I am bitter about it.  But that is a story for another time.  Paul, you look spectacular!  Very clean.

On another note, I received an e-mail from one James "Wondo" Wonderly.  Jim and family will be moving to my neck of the woods here in Central PA in August.  He is transferring from the Boston area for a work opportunity.  I don't believe they call him "Wondo" at work.  This, my friends, will change!

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on lately and I wish I could have made it to Matt's party.  My son's appendix ruptured that night so we were at the ER.  On the upside, my daughter gave birth on Thursday, July 29th, which was her 27th birthday to a little girl, Isla Lauren (pronounced Eye La).  I had to stay with my 21 month old grandson while Mommy and Daddy were at the hospital from Thursday through Saturday.  We had a great time but I was really happy when Mommy got home today.  Grandma needs a rest!

Nice news clip Paul!  I agree with Adrianne.  You looked quite handsome.  And as usual, Jeff, you always make me laugh.  Maybe next summer you and Wondo can make it to Erie for a visit.  I'll never stop nagging you, you know.  Welcome back Jerri!  I hope your son is doing well and congrats on the new grand baby.  Let's see some pics soon.

So if cowboys ate their meals at the chuckwagon, what exactly did they do at the "jackwagon"?!

Mmmmm, those shore are some purty sheep.....

Ewww, did I go too far?

Sad story out of Erie today.  A two year old girl was taken out of her bed by someone who broke into her house to rob her family.  Instead he kidnapped her, raped her, killed her and left her body along the 12th Street railroad tracks.  Fortunately, he left his fingerprints on her bedroom window.  He apparently already had a rap sheet so the police were able to identify him and arrest him.  The whole town is still in shock as the story was first reported as an abduction.  Her mother went to get her out of bed around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning and realized she wasn't in her bed.  Everyone really hoped she would be found alive, unfortunately, that is not the outcome.  If you can, keep Elizabeth Neimeic's parents and family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  There is a fundraiser this Friday to help defray funeral costs.  Donations are being accepted at any PNC Bank also.

Enough said!!!

How incredibly funny!!!  Here's our version.  Only truth be told, we are all a bit way too proud of Texas around here.  I don't know of a Texan who isn't proud of their State, but we can be a bit over the top with it.

Drop Paul an e-mail in case he doesn't read the forum in time.  He can send out group e-mails.

Hi guys - how you doing?  Bummer Adrianne - I would have loved to see you guys. I'm not heading back to town until 8/29 - and  will only be there a couple of days - and it's not even a Friday or Saturday.  I hope you guys have fun - and I like that everyone still wants to stay in touch and get together.  I think I'll try and get something together during the fall/winter months - when I'm in town....once I figure my schedule out. Thinking way ahead - but maybe the Friday after Thanksgiving????  I know I will see some of you at the hockey games. Hope everyone is doing well.

I would like to propose a toast to all the teachers, substitute teachers and various other support staff involved with the school systems.  School starts next week!!  Thanks for all you do.

This is a terrific article by my friend and soon to be first-time father at age 58, Scott Lax. http://thefatherlife.com/mag/2010/09/03/the-long-and-winding-road-to-your-ultrasound/

Paul, I enjoyed Scott's story and I believe I'm going to order a copy of his book The Year that Trembled.  Sounds like one heck of a good read.

Tony, that's great news on your daughter at the good ole creek!  I hear there's competition to get in there, so that's wonderful news.

On Styx, my kids love our old school music and so do I. Sounds like it was a good time.

Sharie, Scott's book was also made into a movie that was released in 2002. Renee helped Scott and the producers secure some locations for shooting and we got to hang out on the set a few times to see some of the scenes being filmed. It was really fun being on the set of a movie and watching it all happen. Renee was even listed in the credits. We went to the premier and hung out with the cast and crew afterward. Sadly, one of the stars of the film, Jonathan Brandis, who I spent some time with at the premier, committed suicide in 2003.
