I'm participating! Yay! What's everyone up to?

Pete Hoesing

When is this shindig going to be anyway? Micky, we need to organize some live music for this thing. Arkfeld's got a regional band, so he could play bass with us, and you could strap Al onto the roof of your car for the trip up. What say you, my good man?

That would be pretty cool to have some opening tunes during the initial mixer. We'd probably want to let the attendees vote, and my feelings wouldn't be hurt if they'd rather have a DJ.

As long as I get to take a break to eat, we'll be good. I'm up to 255 now and I get pretty hungry (as I drink a protein shake)!!!

That reminds me of the scrolling marqee in the lunch room.

"Feeling UNGRY?"

Oh Lance machine, how I miss you...

Ah yes, and how well we all remember at how good you are at garnering votes. I fondly recall your campaign slogans for student mayor:

"Vote for Micky, he's tricky."
"Nine out of ten student mayors ate glue as children. Micky eats glue. Vote for Micky."

...and my personal favorite:
"When Micky sees a half-dead animal on the side of the road, he runs it over again just to make sure it's not suffering. Vote for Micky the Humanitarian."

I guess we could take a vote. How bad could that turn out?

Let's not forget the following politically correct slogan:

"Vote for Micky. He's the best Honkie in town!"

Man. I should have gotten in trouble so many times.

Is there anyone else here on this board? I feel like a board-nazi. Or maybe a board-glutton?

Jeremy Frahm

Dude, I voted for you. Your slogans kicked ass!

07/23/08 10:50 AM #8

Micky Fokken

Thanks Jeremy! But I gotta say that Garrett's video was much cooler, lol. He probably did a better job at the actual position too. What DOES class president do?

Garrett?

07/23/08 01:26 PM #9

Sara Fitzpatrick (Lopko)

Well, boys, stinking class president does what yours truly is doing . . . Garrett got the honored position of Student Body Mayor (or whatever the official title was). He got to represent the whole school. I, as class president, just got stuck with reunion responsibilities . . . :) So far, though, this website has been fun. Thanks, everyone for your participation.

And, please keep up the suggestions . . .nothing is set up yet. I needed to track a few people down and get a little feedback first.

hahaha... omg... Pete, Micky I miss you guys! I forgot all about those slogans! and the 'ungry' marquee in the lunch room! what about band study hall? I miss that - and Mr. Nelson.
what a great site. Thanks for telling me about it, Micky!

Hello 1999 classmates! Mickey I remember making that video, you just sat there staring at the camera for the whole video and right at the end, "vote for me".

07/23/08 08:25 PM #12

Mike Wohlhutter

that was pure magic. I also play bass in a local band if that goes anywhere I'd be down.

"Don't be bashful." Today I realized that if you stick your finger in something, and it does not slap you...it's probably dead."

Michael . . .

Burchett, that was touching.

Hahahahahahahahaaaa!....hahaha...ha.....ha........

07/24/08 10:45 AM #17

Micky Fokken

Mike, do you have a link to your band's music? You looked like you're jamming out there in your pics. Lookin good man!

07/24/08 05:04 PM #18

Christine Hendricks

haha... that's sick Burchett... ha

07/24/08 05:12 PM #19

Mike Wohlhutter

yeah just go to myspace.com/sistamattix

Pete Hoesing

Well Sara, I was going to wait a bit until more people had joined up to do this, but since you're soliciting suggestions, here goes: I want to recommend a late July reunion. For those of us who have been out of the Midwest for a while, that's prime sweet corn season (yum). It's also pretty dependable for good weather.

07/24/08 09:43 PM #21

Micky Fokken

If we do mid July, we can all go to the fair together. ...and I'll make a pie like I used to in 4-H. ...wait, did I just tell everyone that I cooked pies in 4-H?

07/24/08 10:08 PM #22

Mike Wohlhutter

you did tell everyone, but what you didn't realize is that you can delete it before anyone will see it. At least you didn't tell everyone that you tried selling cattle for 4-H when you don't know a damn thing about livestock like me. Damn! I think I just did it too.

07/25/08 07:55 AM #23

Pete Hoesing

Mid-July would be perfect: fair time, RAGBRAI time, corn time, pie time . . . wait, COW TIME? I believe I'd pay to see you chasing a cow around, Mike.

07/25/08 12:56 PM #24

Brody Deren

I like the mid-July suggestion as well. Regarding the pies at 4-H...Mickey, I think I made cookies for 4-H (Fairview Family HHHH Club...lookout!) But have to tell you all that I recently attented the Shelby County Fair (about 2 weeks ago) and was AMAZED at the Cherry Pie Auction. Apparently $7/bushel corn is treating everyone well around Harlan because the Grand Champion Cherry Pie took home $675! That's crazy.

07/25/08 05:15 PM #25

Mike Wohlhutter

Damn! I knew I should have payed attention in home economics. I could quit my job and just follow the county fairs around selling pies

My parents gave permission to use the garage as 1) reunion location and 2) afterparty. Al was happy to get a warning because he has a diverting plan for when Steve Davis and Rod McMurphy show up to ask if minors are drinking on the property.
