WILLIAM F. “Smitty” ("Jerrio" to all of us,) age 67, of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 after a short illness. Bill was born October 14, 1945 in Corning, NY a son of Francis and Marian Jerome Smith. He was a graduate of Horseheads High School in 1964, served his country honorably with the US Navy, was employed by Eaton for over 35 years and was a member of the American Legion Post #442. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and time spent with his camping friends and family. He is pre-deceased by his, father, Francis P. Smith. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, JoAnne Bowers Smith; son, Jason (Melissa) Smith; grandchildren, Izabella, Alexa, Kamryn and Derrick; mother, Marian L. Jerome Smith; brother, Ronald Smith, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Lee (Carol) Whipple and Charles (Donna) Bowers; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY with full military honors.
