We just relocated to NH. It's impossible to ignore the financial benefits as a retiree in leaving CT and moving to a more favorable state.
After 40 years in the electric utility industry, I have retired from ISO New England and stuck out on my own as a part-time consultant. While I miss working at the ISO, I'm excited about a whole new role going forward.
I attended Northeastern University in Boston with a degree in Electric Power Systems Engineering. Played sports and started down the path of USMC Reserve Officer but like my days at South, physical injuries continued to take their toll ending some life long dreams. Amazed I made it through college, Boston had way too many distractions especially for me at the time.
Went to work in New Hampshire with the major utility in the state. Bought a small house on a lake in the boonies and actually adjusted to the country life. Changed career direction and moved back to CT to began my next career in the organization ISO New England. We managed the electric power grid for all of New England. Had some successes so instead of being a good engineer I moved into management pushing papers and attending endless meetings.
Married with three daughters, as my mom used to point out, gods revenge for my youthful endeavors. Our oldest is through UMASS, married to a great guy even though he's ex-Army and she has twin boys. Our middle one graduated UCONN with a BS and WPI with an MS in engineering. The baby finished at UCONN in engineering, had a great run in high school, all-state in track and high honors in class and is working on her MS in engineering at WPI.
