Charles Arthur Kimball, 58

Centerville - Charles Arthur Kimball, 58, an author, school teacher, house painter and resident of Centerville since 1972, died January 15, 1998 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Liselotte (Isler) Kimball for 34 years.

Born and raised in Dedham, he graduated from Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury and Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. After college, he spent three years in the Navy, attaining the rank of lieutenant, junior grade.

He lived in Phoenix, Ariz., before moving to Centerville in 1972. He worked as an author, a school teacher and a house painter.

Mr. Kimball was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, reading, music and gardening.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Jessica Anne Byrne of Sandwich and Sophia Kimball Rice of Cohasset; a son, John Jakob Worthington Kimball of Hyannis; two sisters, Caroline Leahy of Anacortes, Wash., and Weezie Nelson of Barnstable; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held January 19 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable. Burial was private.
