SPRINGFIELD - Darrell E. Pomeroy, 56, of Springfield, formerly of Havana, passed away at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield at 5:58 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, 2010. He was born Nov. 25, 1953, in Canton, IL to Donald and Darlene (Boggs) Pomeroy. He married Nancy Dissman on June 27, 1976, in Havana. She survives.
Mr. Pomeroy is survived by his wife, Nancy of Springfield; two daughters, Melissa Pomeroy of Spring Hill, FL; Ashleigh Pomeroy of Springfield; one granddaughter, Bethany Kinter; two brothers, Curtis Pomeroy of Havana, Brian (Diane) Pomeroy of Jerseyville; and one sister, Marilyn (Roger) Adams of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.
Mr. Pomeroy had worked for Mueller Company for the past 23 years. He had also worked for Illinois Power for 7 years and C. & I. M. Railroad for 7 years. He was a member of the American Pie band and loved to play the guitar and piano. He enjoyed reading about history and discussing politics. He was a great and understanding husband and father who loved his family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Waterford Cemetery in Fulton Co. Rev. Bill Boyce will officiate.
