Joan Harad Goodis was a unique and caring woman who touched the lives of many people. She was a compassionate person, a dedicated friend, and a positive human being. Joan's zest for life, sincere smile, and ability to live each day to the fullest affected everyone she met - her Delta Phi Epsilon sorority sisters, childhood friends, family, and co-workers.

"Each contact with a human being is so rare, so precious one should preserve it," said Anais Nin. It is a philosophy Joan Harad Goodis lived by until she succumbed to ovarian cancer in September 1999.

The Joan Harad Goodis Fund was established on February 14, 2000, to honor the birthday and memory of Joan Harad Goodis. Her courageous battle with ovarian cancer resulted in Joanie's friends partnering with Fox Chase Cancer Center to reduce the burden of human cancer and to provide care to patients affected by this dreaded disease.

The growth of this fund has enabled a Mind and Body support group to be offered to all interested ovarian cancer patients at Fox Chase. In addition, a Wellness Bag has been assembled by The Goodis Fund principals for distribution to all pre-operative ovarian cancer patients at Fox Chase.

The Joan Harad Goodis Fund keeps Joanie's spirit alive while providing hope and support for countless women and their families.
