Judy was a very competent pianist and accompanied the high school chorus and smaller ensembles. She had a wry sense of humor and seemed more mature than I felt about myself at the time.
Thanks, Lynn -- I forgot about Judy's piano playing. She actually played one time at the Academy with Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra at one of the Children's Concerts my mom insisted on dragging me to.
I lived across the street from Judy and in the "old days" before central air conditioning, her front door and window were always open so you could hear her practicing. My mother said it was like having a daily concert.
Judy and I lost touch after graduation. In 1976 I enrolled my 4 year old boy in a nursery school in Broomall. We were living in Penn Wynne. The school put me in touch with the family that was living nearby for a carpools. We spoke on the phone and wanted to meet. We wanted the boys to know each other.I invited them over, and when I opened the door there was my old friend Judy Himmelstein with her adorable little boy. Our friendship continued and she became ill. The children went to different schools, and we moved to Richboro. I am grateful for the time we spent together and our great friendship.
It is so nice to read the lovely memories of Judy. I went on to study music seriously and wish I had kept in touch with her. Does anyone know if she continued music professionally?

I knew Judy since first grade; we grew up together on Bryn Mawr Avenue. F***k cancer.
Linda Hellmig (Schatzle)
I couldn't agree more with Dennis. Judy left us much too young.
