John M. Ciafardoni, 63, of Lynchburg, Virginia died on Saturday, May 21st, 2011. Mr. Ciafardoni was a school bus driver for Lynchburg City Schools and owner of Mercury Transfer.
Mr. Ciafardoni was born in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Lena and Pasquale Ciafardoni, and grew up in Ardmore, PA where he attended St. Denis school. A graduate of Haverford High School, John worked for many years in the highway construction industry, before moving to Virginia ten years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Lorelei, his daughter Christina Susanne Ciafardoni, and two sons, John Nicholas (Janelle Addesa) and Justin Roe; and two sisters, M. Jean DiPietro of Wayne, PA and Deanna Miller of Havertown, PA, and he is predeceased by his sister, Philomena Bullock.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Brookville Ruritan Club located at 311 Beverly Hills Circle, Lynchburg, VA (near the Timberlake Dixie Youth Baseball Fields) on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Steve Turner officiating.
Because Mr. Ciafardoni was a proud supporter of Heritage High School's Pioneer Theatre, the family is asking that you consider making a donation to Pioneer Theatre. c/o Heritage High School, 3020 Wards Ferry Road, Lynchburg VA 24502, in lieu of flowers.

I think one would have difficulty finding someone who did not like "Ciaffy." I knew him for years, even prior to Haverford HS years, and even though he was "bigger than life" his demeanor was one of gentleness. I can still see his smile and remember post-graduation always seeing Ciaffy at the Haverford Lanes when I bowled at a league there. We eventually were friends on Facebook and I was so happy to be able to connect with this great guy who who was able to move through life with a mild-mannered grace to him. When I realized I didn't "see" him on Facebook for awhile it was then I was told that we lost him.
May you rest in peace, Ciaffy. You are most definitely missed!
