I love life and try to enjoy everyday I have here!!
I grew up down in on Pinelog, went to elementary school at Ogden, grades 1-6 Horace Garrison was the principle. We had 2 grades in every classroom 1 teacher per classroom. I got paddled my first day of school for standing in the swing! Got a few more to follow :-)).
Then for the 7th-12th grades I went to Hayesville, where I still got paddled every now and then (I deserved it). I was involved with FFA I loved farming (I still do). This was how I grew up, milked cows everyday, feed hogs and chickens, grew tobacco as a cash crop, and bailed (handled) a lot of hay!!
I also loved playing football for Hayesville High School, weight lifting, and running/ being on the track team (All this was required by our football coach)!!
I also drove a school bus my Junior and Senior year of HS, after turning 16 and passing the written and driving tests. I was blessed, money was never a big problem, if you worked then you got paid!! So I was taught to work as a small boy, and how to enjoy it!
I think we all seemed to get along pretty well in High School, occasionally we might get in a fight or skirmish get a paddling, and then make back up to being friends. I enjoyed hunting in the winter time and fishing in the summer time, and I remember having a gun rack in my own pickup truck so in the winter I always had a 30/30 and a 12Ga. shot gun in it and in the spring and summer fishing rods. Even when parking on the school grounds!! Don’t think you can do that in the day and age!!
I grew up going to Church on Sundays (Pinelog) and was saved and baptized there! Most of my family that has passed is buried there!
Clay County was a Dry county so you had to go to Towns County if you needed any special beverage you had to be 18 or older.
My wonderful wife MaryJane and I started dating Jan. 1980, I asked her Feb. 14th to "go steady with me". We dated for 3 years then we got married August 6, 1983 and have been together ever since, she is the love of my life!!!!!
After graduating HHS, I decided to study a new technology I knew nothing about "electrical engineering". Moved to Atlanta 2 hours from here and have been here ever since. I am blessed to have 2 homes, Clay County and Gwinnett County!!
