MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Over a year ago we set out to plan a 50th year reunion, one that we had hoped would be deserving of our efforts, and one that would assure that our class members enjoyed their brief time together. Well, I think it is safe to report that we did just that. From all of the comments and cards that we have received since our recent get-together, it appears that everyone had a good time, and then some! The Friday icebreaker was extremely well received; there have been numerous compliments about the setting, the service, and the food.

Saturday was indeed special. The Mass was remarkable, from the bagpiper to Steve's sermon, to Jay's reading of the names of the departed class members, to the tolling of the church bells. Father Fulton was gracious, and our class gift bearers, Alyce, Sally, and Janet, certainly added to the total effect. The fact that the congregation applauded us at the end of the service certainly added an exclamation mark to our church gathering.

Our evening together was extraordinary. It was so wonderful to see so many people who made our past together so special. A special time in that brick building with the cupola, and so many memories, of all kinds. Although it was disappointing not to have had Sister Luke with us, we were nevertheless able to memorialize her, especially because of Mary Jane's craftsmanship. Our memorial table, with yearbooks, and the video of the school's razing, the memorabilia of all kinds, Nancy's CD's, her notebook, Joanne's favors and center pieces, the penny candy on the tables, the balloons, the coordination purple and white colors, the songs the DJ played and sang, our candle lighting ceremony, the trivia prizes that Jay presented, Tim's reading of Lucille's beautiful poem, the great food, and most of all, our bonding with each other, if only for a short time. We gave Nancy a well-deserved plaque; we chanced off a GPS; we gave away a cash prize; we danced; we took pictures. Then we took a breath, missed those who couldn't be with us, but thanked the powers that be for those who were. We treasured the way we were, if only for a short time.

My everlasting thanks to Nancy, Jay, Lucille, Miki, Mary Jo, Jim, Connie, Janet, Alyce, Sally, Joanne, Lori, and Mary Jane. I ask you to stay in touch with those you saw this week. Thanks for something that will not be forgotten, for a glimpse of the past, for a renewal of all that was good about us. We have been blessed by this weekend. Being chairman of such a fantastic group will always be a part of me.

To all our class members: 50 years is not something to take for granted. I respectfully ask that you keep in touch with those whom you have met. You deserve that. We all do. Thanks again, to all of you.

With only good wishes,

Bob

A NOTE FROM FR. FULTON:

Many thanks for the warm welcome from the Class of 60...It was a joy to celebrate the Mass at St.Gabriel's for your class...Please thank the committee for the $50 cheque and the Rosary. Both were thoughtful gifts. It was not necessary to give me a stipend for the Mass. I would have gladly celebrated the Mass in thanksgiving for the many ways the Lord's Mercy has been present for the class of 60. Again, many thanks.

 Father Gene Fulton

A NOTE FROM SR. LUKE, R.S.M.

Thanks to Mary Jane and to all of you for such a beautiful and meaningful gift. I was overwhelmed when Jane gave me the rosary. I've never seen any rosary like it. It means so much to me. I will definately use them and pray for all of you. I do keep you all in my prayers each day.
