Paula Christine Juhl Love

The past 50 years since graduation have been wonderful! I have been blessed to have numerous hobbies and careers and loved every one of them. I moved to California with one of my sisters in 1966. I worked 8 years for the Department of Defense in the Bay Area, learned so much about government contracts including NASA, and was sent to some most interesting schools to learn even more! Vance and I met in 1968 and got married in 1974, and shortly thereafter moved up to ‘Wine Country’ here in northern California. We have been here ever since. Our daughter was born in 1979 and my new, most important job as a Mom began.

My varied ‘careers’ have included working in Real Estate, as a florist, a seamstress, running a day care center, director of a Thursday afternoon ‘school’ at my church, which included starting and directing the children’s and adult choirs (10 years). I worked 17 years at a small country K-6 school as Librarian/Teaching Assistant, and a couple years as the Computer Tech. When I retired from the school, I worked one year at an Edward Jones office, but missed the children, so went back to subbing for 5 years at my neighborhood elementary school. The last 10 years I have written a weekly column listing all the local non-profit events for our local weekly newspaper. For 10 years in the 80s and 90s my passion for decorating came into use with the annual dinner, dance and auction for our local Boys and Girls Club, where I was in charge of decorations and the silent auction. I also had a lot of fun during our daughters four years in High School, working with her class on the decorations for all their dances and events! Over the last 16 years I have been involved in the political campaigns of a young man (Mike McGuire) here in Healdsburg, running his first campaign for School Board (18 years old and got the most votes ever!), then City Council (twice - again, most votes ever), then County Supervisor. Last fall he was elected to the California State Senate!

Hobbies include sewing, growing and arranging flowers, landscape designing, and crocheting, mostly baby blankets.

We have done some traveling which included a cruise to Alaska (highly recommend), traveling to England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany. Our favorite local getaway is Ft. Bragg up on the Mendocino Coast. Love to sit at the ocean and listen to the waves. So peaceful and relaxing! And fresh seafood right off the boat is amazing!

50 years of making new friends and staying connected with the special ones from our past. We plan to do more traveling. Love spending time with the grandchildren, who also live here in Healdsburg. Did not know there was that much love to give until I became a Gramma. Best ‘job’ in the whole world!

Life has been and still is good! I am very blessed.

I was only at Helena High for our Junior and Senior years, and I was quiet and pretty shy, so I'm sure most of our classmates did not know me, or will remember me. But I was and still am a 'people watcher' so feel like I know most of you. Our senior year I left school at noon every day to go to work at Power Townsend. Fun times. I remember having fun at the football and basketball games, Mr. Harris drilling us in Concert Choir and Bengaliers (sp?), and always amazed at the things Mrs. Marshall could pull off regarding sets, decorations, etc. I remember being afraid of Mr. Voiles until one time I talked to him in the hall when I was leaving to go to work, and he was such a sweetie! President Kennedy's assassination most prominent memory from High School.
