UPDATE: I retired July 2009. I have great fun reading to the kids for Smart. I also volunteer for the kindergarten teachers at my Great-grandsons school.

Donald and I married in 1965 and started off raising a family, I was a stay at home Mom until 1976, when I went to work at Silent Valley Club in Poppet Flats, worked my way up to the front office, where I discovered I liked the work I was doing. I worked for them for 11 years. By then our children had graduated, Tom went to the Navy for six years as a CBer, the girls got married and we became grandparents (smile). We felt it was time for a move and in 1993, along with my uncle whom we were caring for, found a beautiful home on the Oregon coast in Coos Bay.

I went to work for Head Start as a Teacher assistant and worked up to Associate Teacher. I loved my work with the children and families.

In 2002 I had spinal surgery for a AVM located in my spinal cord. All went well but I had to give up my job at Head Start. When I could I applied for a part time job at Cartwheels and wound up Director. It is a wonderful job because we can talk about God there. We have 66 kids in school, so this keeps us busy.

Don and I enjoy the beach, South Slough where he works, and going to Washington to visit good friends. We love it here.

Don is now retired as of June 1, 2016. We have a big yard and that keeps him busy.

School Story:

Darnell Koenig O'brien and I met when I bumped into her there at Sante Fe as I was heading to Homemaking (8th grade). I remember saying "You look like a girl I know", and her reply was "I am a girl". We have been friends since then through thick and thin. She even has a rental home here in Coos Bay. Her honey, Bob did not care for the climate and they moved to Auburn, CA. She has been a great Aunt to my children and grandkids. She still has a heart of gold.

Hello Evelyn. It is nice to know you are in touch with the class. Looks like you have had a full life. I worked with preschoolers. I say that is my age level. Take care and do keep in touch.
