Phil Howerton (Teacher)

 

 

 

Nathanial Phil Howerton was born May 21, 1923, in Big Piney, Sublette, Wyoming. He served in the Navy during WWII. He and his family lived in Hemet since 1952. He was Hemet High School English teacher, then Counselor, Student Body Advisor and Yearbook/Annual Advisor.  He then  went to teach at MSJC in 1968 and retired from there sometime in the '80s.  He died May 31, 2003, in Hemet. He was married and was survived by his wife Helen and two children: Diane and David.  He was a great teacher and was loved by all and is missed.

           What an icon for Hemet High,  I remember Phil Howerton was always around involved,  helpful and into  everything. He had a positive attitude that radiated where ever he went.   I see where Diane gets her energy. Diane - Thanks for all your efforts with this REUNION  stuff.
