THIS IS FROM DARRELL

To all my fellow constituents,

Any chance of me making it to the reunion were dashed about a week ago. July 15th, I mobilize for Iraq. Now I know all of ya'll that were hoping to see me ( I can count you on one hand, or less) are going to be OK. Todd, you're welcome. I sent an email to Chris Mabis and I see that he has been able to get his profile on. Major Mabis, Thank You for serving, Sir. Speaking of which, do you and Todd remember back in 1990 when I was in the Marine Corps Reserves and I told ya'll I was gonna be called up for Desert Storm and you both said Bull#@*$, and then I was called up for Desert Storm. I don't know why I thought of that. But do ya'll remember when Chris had that blue Mustang and we were doin what we normally did and we made a pit stop in the forestry and I was up on a picnic table and flipped off what turned out to be a cop and then jumped off that table only to run right smack into another table. Just so ya know; hammered or not, that friggin hurt. I mean "no need to wait til the morning" hurt. Todd, you remember Senior Prom. The escaped prisoners from the Youth Camp that tried to carjack Nat Stewarts Blazer. That was our biggest claim to fame right there. I'll never forget that grinding transmission, or what happened next. Any ways, If someone could send some photos of the reunion I; as well as Chris I'm sure, would really appreciate it.

P.S. It is amazing the memories that flood back when you prepare for reunions. Don't hold back people. We'll laugh as hard today as we did back then.

Darrell

THIS IS FROM PERRY

Wow...you get on here and find out we have true heroes in our class. I personally want to thank Chris, Darrell, and HHS alum Brad Guernsey (class of 2004) who is also in Iraq...and to any other military personnel.

Being a parent, I cannot fathom being away from my family for a long period of time...with today's technology it is better, but I just could not do it. It is amazing how emotional you can get when you deal with your kids, something I didn't fully realize until Madison was born.

I just wanted to take this space to say "thank you" to you guys and to everyone else in the U.S. military for everything you do. It has become almost a joke to hear every politician (especially those against the war) thank our military personnel for their service, but you can believe that I truly mean it.

Whether you agree with governmental policies or not, the sacrifice these guys and girls are giving deserves our respect.

Perry

To Darrell,

I had no idea that you were still in the military. You need to let me know where you are going to be and I'll try to link up. If you end up down south or out west, it may be difficult. If you're anywhere Bagdhad and north, I get to most of those places. I noticed you have an AKO email. Send me a detail at chris.mabis@us.army.mil.

Also, would you go get Todd off the tractor long enough to get in touch. I wonder if he even has a computer?

To Perry,

Thank You for the words of encouragement. I would submit that after doing this several times, the families back at home are the heroes. My Wife has to keep working, take care of the house, the baby, and the bills. I have been deployed for a total of 37 months since we have been married and she puts up with it... and me. I also appreciate all the support that we receive from everyone at home. As for politics, of which you speak the truth, I try to steer clear of the conversation. I try to remain focused on faith, family, and career. Lord knows I didn't have that focus until I was about 30, so I figure I have catching up to do.

To All,
Enjoy the upcoming time with friends. Thank you to the people who are putting this together. I will try to update photos on my profile from time to time, the bandwidth isn't great here. If anyone was wondering where here is, I am in Tikrit, Iraq. I work in the Northern Iraq, from Bagdhad north up to Mosul. It is sandy and hot. We have sand storms about once a week and the temp has been between 110 and 120 since the beginning of June. It's like someone holding a hot blow drier in your face constantly. I do work in an office, but I'm out circulating and conducting missions 2-3 days a week. Keep me posted on how the reunion goes. If someone gives me a phone number, I will try to call in.

Chris

I just want to let you know how grateful I am to all of the military personnel too. It is a sacrifice that I know we're not worthy of. I am so happy to hear from each of you and I will keep you and your families in my prayers. You are truly amazing!

To Darrell: Remember when I loved you with all my heart? What was I 10 years old? LOL! I thought you were such a cutie......I'm sure you still are..... Thanks for all you do for this country. It means more than we'll ever be able to tell you. Be Safe.

To Chris: I already sent you a message, but after reading your forum response I just wanted to add that I too am amazed at how much we "get it" after 30. Take care and keep in touch.

Hey Darrell and Chris, Wow! it is great to hear from you guys. Just to let you know Darrell, I am still on Brownstown Road. Craig and I built a house on my grandma's property and we are still here! I take my kids to the creek to play just like we all did when we were kids. You and Chris( And all other military personel) are very special people and thanks for all that you do for us everyday. I was really hoping to see both of you and meet your families, maybe when you get back home we can try to get as many people together and meet somewhere. Keep us posted on the website and God Bless!

Wow, what to say. I haven't talked to any of you guys in years. Been moving around, stupid job keeps me to busy. To you Chris, man it's been forever. Continue to keep your head and butt down. A guy that works for me now, knew you and delivered a message for me once, to bad the guy next to you had the same name as me. I've got your email now, I'll try to send you some messages. If you ever get back around, email me at LINEAPE1@HOTMAIL.COM, or call me at 812-896-2261. Darrell, I wish I would have known where you lived, I was working just down the road from you not very long ago. Same goes to you, keep safe. Anybody else that would want to get ahold of me for any reason can use either method from above. See you'll soon.

Class, I threw a couple more photos on my profile. I should be able to throw a couple more pictures on every couple of weeks or so. I truly appreciate all of the support from everyone that I've heard from. I hope all of the best for everyone.

Jim,
Good to hear from you. I'll try to drop you a line when I can.
Take Care,
Chris

It never amazes me how things change, yet stay the same. Teaching at HHS now after attending there, it is so amazing to see the same silly things go on now as they did back when we were there.

The kids get so worked up about things that will have zero affect on their abilities to be successful in the future. For some of them, by just getting away from Henryville they will be allowed to be themselves and not something that has them pigeon holed.

It is fun for me to read about your lives now and compare them with what my perception of what they were like back in high school (I realize that I could very well be wrong about that perception, too...thinking back on an 18 year old's feelings is way different than at 38).

I hope to talk with many of you at the Reunion because life is so...so...interesting.

I cracked up reading Furnish's memories...I remember Doug doing that at Ball State when I was up there...that is funny!

It won't be long now....just around the corner and you can see my bald head, and beautiful wife....How did that happen?
