I missed all the excitement. I was in Destin, Florida when Hurricane Ike hit.............and I must say from where we were it was beautiful. Nice winds, great waves and ELECTRICITY! We had to leave early to come home for a funeral. For those of you who knew my Granny, Catherine Hughes, or Mrs. Catherine as she was known to some, she passed away Thursday September 18th. She was also Matt Donahoe's Granny, Billie Jo, Theresa and Luann Griffin's Aunt Sissy. And a Granny to alot of folks in Henryville.
Glad to hear everyone is safe from Ike.
Later.....TRACY

Just wanted to ask everyone to keep Amy (Bagshaw) Russ in your prayers. Her son Colby has been in ICU @ Kosair Childrens since Monday Sept. 29th. He had a massive nosebleed that caused him to choke. Since he has been in the hospital he had a lung collapse & went in to full cardiac arrest. The doctors were able to stabilize him & he is now on a vent. He is doing well but will have to remain on the vent for several days before they try to take him off. It has been a rough week for Ame but she's tough & has a lot of support from family & friends. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks in advance for you prayers!!!!

Amy (Russ),
I hope Colby is better and home.
Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything.
We didn't get as strong winds in Alexandria as you guys did, however, my brother Billy lives in Madison and he told me they got hit and lost power for almost a week.
Talk to ya'll later.

If anyones knows how Colby is doing, please post a message to let us know.

Man...there is nothing worse than having your kids sick..something I didn't fully realize until I had them.

Keep us informed and hang in there Amy, a lot of prayers are headed your way.

Hey Gang - Just a quick update. Colby is doing amazingly well considering all he has been through. My little boy has a weak body but a strong will, that's for sure. We are at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Kosair does not know the proper protocol for weaning an SMA child off a vent and Cincinnati does. (All of Colby's specialist are here at Cincy, pulmonologist, neurologist, orthopaedics, cardiologist, etc.) So we were transported via ambulance yesterday and I'm thrilled with Colby's continued progress. We may try to extabate him tomorrow or Sat. for sure. It will be touchy but I know he is in the best hands with these folks. They've done it before with success. I'll post more when I get the chance! Thanks for the prayers and words of encouragement. I'll pass them along to Colby. Hugs, AMY RUSS

Glad to hear he is ok Amy. I've spent the last little while running all over Indiana turning peoples power back on and fixing everything the storm tore up. Darrel, thanks for all the election stuff. Hope to see everyone sometime soon.

Hi Everyone - Just a quick update. Overall Colby is doing very well. His central line got infected and he spiked a fever Monday night. But they have removed the line and have had him on some mega strong antibiotics. He has shown no sign of fever since Tuesday afternoon. Today they discontinued the antibiotics. If Colby remains fever free for the next 24 hours, we can probably go home. I'm excited but not getting my hopes up too much until I have the discharge papers in my hand. On the respiratory end, Colby is doing great. He is able to take breaks off his bi-pap. Today he has taken two 1-hour-45-minute breaks and that's great, considering he was still on a ventilator this time last week. His recovery will be slow. But I know he will recover and I'm so very lucky to have that little squirt in my life. The next post I do will be soon and will be from HOME! Hugs to All, AMY

I'm happy to report that we are HOME!! We got back in town last Friday the 17th. It took us a few days to get back on our feet but for the most part we're back in the swing of things. Colby is doing great. He is spending up to four hours off his bi-pap at a time and today he was able to sit up for about 30 minutes. He probably could have done more but I'm not pushing him. His teacher is coming here for the next couple of weeks, two times a week, an hour each time. But I hope he can get back to school soon.

Hope everyone is well. Happy Fall Y'all! Enjoy the cool weather while you can before the cold, dark, snowy days arrive.

:-)

Hey, guys. I would like to take a moment to let everyone know that according to the kids at Henryville these days, Perry is the HOT TEACHER! Sorry if this makes you blush, G. Perry, but I couldn't resist. I missed the reunion but I hope things are good for everyone. I hope you are all doing well. To our guys who are serving, you're the best and I know you will represent us well. Although I missed the 20 year reunion, I hope to see you ALL at the next one... count on it.

You know I saw Perry at the reunion and I'd have to agree....He's definitely got some hot going on! His wife is a very lucky gal and she knows it!!

This is ridiculous...for all of you out there who read this it ought to tell you a couple things:
1. It isn't true
2. If it is...ought to tell you how ugly the staff here is.
3. and thirdly...some high school girls will think anyone is attractive if they are in a position of authority, nice to them, and well....really HOT like myself.

Just kidding.

Trust me, I have heard the talk about my behind...funny not much there, but seems to draw attention for some.

I posted a picture of Mrs. Cissell and me at the Sarah Palin rally...she looks great and is very happy, misses teaching though.

All,
It looks like this is it. If all goes well, I will be on a plane within the next three days back to the states. I am hoping to be done and home by Thanksgiving. Sorry that I haven't been checking in, it's been busy over here. It's still Iraq... and it still sucks.

Hope to see everyone soon.

Chris,

Just wondering if you had made it home yet?

11/25/08 02:13 PM #77

Chris Mabis

All,
Landed in the US on 21 NOV. I am done and home as of today, 25 NOV, just in time for Thanksgiving. The rest of the Soldiers should be home within the next week.

It is colder than crap here! I'm not use to this at all.

Glad to hear you made it home. If you don't mind, can you post a phone number or email so those who would like to get in touch could do so. I'm not sure where you and your family reside, but I have friend that lives in Mooresville. Hope to hear from ya when time permits.
