OK. So this might be the most difficult posting I have made here.
Bobbie and I met in the clarinet section of the band "back in the day". We became bf and gf in the senior year. There was so much Joy there for me and I think also for her. But at the end of the year we both realized that it was time to move on. Later, and many stories in between -- after all, we were both at FSU -- we lost track of each other. Flash forward nearly 40 years, we reconnected. In Chicago. At my Presidential Installation at Roosevelt University. She came to town first, and stay until after everyone else had left. We told stories; we bored the hell out of my husband (yes! husband; not then but now after it became legal), and she never flinched because her life had been full of twists and turns just like mine had.
We saw each other occastionally in Tampa thereafter. Always the lovely person I knew back in HHS. Indeed, more!
So tonight I am shocked after the years of her stuggles, both medically and personally, that I find out that she is suddenly "GONE". The word "Sad" doesn't even approach what I am feeling here tonight here in Palm Springs CA.
RIP Bobbie. You know that I always loved you even though ......
I saw Larry in NYC about a decade ago. He was working for the private foundation of a really rich guy. His job was to give away the guy's money. Isn't that a GREAT JOB? We had lunch, And spent a total of 2 hours catching up and sharing stories from band and ultimately all points in between then and that meeting. He had lived in LA and was an actor for awhile. Interesting and engaging life. There is an obituary on line that tells more. Google him.
May he rest in peace! I remember when we two, as the tallest clarinetists, marched side by side in the center of the Marching Thoroughbred Band's first row as we participated in the many, many parades that we performed in. Great guy and a super clarinetist!
