I am, according to Locus, the trade paper of the science fiction field, the all-time leading award winner, living or dead, for short fiction; and 4th on the all-time list when you add in novels and non-fiction. I am the author of 74 science fiction and fantasy novels, over 250 short stories, and 3 screenplays, and the editor of 40 anthologies. My work has been translated into 27 languages.
In 2012 I was named the Guest of Honor at the World Science Fiction Convention, the highest honor the science fiction field has to offer. I've sold 7 more novels, 15 more stories, and another screenplay since my 2011 entry, and I am also editing the Stellar Guild line of books and the forthcoming Galaxy's Edge magazine.
Had 10 books out in 2012. Only 4 books (plus a screnplay) in 2013.; clearly I'm slowing down.
5 more books sold in 2014 -- a mystery (my 3rd), 2 science fiction novels, and 2 collections of short stories. Magazine's going well. I turn 72 tomorrow (I'm writing this on March 4), and I know I should be slowing down...but I also know that I'm much closer to The End than The Beginning, and I've still got hundreds of stories to tell.
Total non-sequitor: From 1968 to 1982 Carol and I bred and exhibited collies as a hobby. During that time we had 23 champions.
Writing this on January 6, 2015. Had 6 books out last year, as well as editing a bi-monthly science fiction magazine. Looks like I'll be co-authoring a couple of screenplays this year, along with writing 3 or 4 books and a bunch of stories. Comes March, my daughter Laura -- who probably outsells me these days -- will be Guest of Honor at a science fiction convention that bestowed the same honor upon me 20 years ago. Nice feeling to know the torch has been passed.
