JCMU Melville Endowed Scholarship Fund
The JCMU Melville Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established to honor and remember the contributions of Harold Melville, late Shiga University Faculty member and JCMU visiting lecturer. Harold Melville is remembered for the difference he made in the lives of hundreds of young people and the example he set for cultural understanding. As the liaison for students, visiting scholars, faculty and staff at the Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) Mel was the ultimate guide, helping program participants engage in the Hikone community and make the transition from life in the United States to life in Japan.
Reasons to Invest
The JCMU Melville Endowment will provide funding for students participating in JCMU Language and Culture Programs. These programs engage students both academically and with the local community through home stays, internships, volunteer work and other activities. JCMU students gain knowledge of Japanese language and culture as well as a unique global

Donors will be recognized in JCMU publications and on a donor board located either at the Japan Center in Hikone or on our newly designed Web site. Additionally, contribution to the JCMU Melville Endowed Scholarship Fund may qualify for a federal tax deduction or State of Michigan tax credit for Michigan residents.
