Happy Birthday Nieder! I kNOW I added your profile to my phone, and do you think I can find it???? Aaargh. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful birthday. If you look through the profiles, you will see how many of our class did not get the privilege of turning 73! My cute friend, Janet Hintze passed away a year ago from metastasized breast cancer. I am in touch with Kaye Sharp Sundberg (a widow for 2 years). She lives in Logan. I remember going to your wedding in Logan. Russ and I celebrated 552 years in July.
I apologize for not calling you back. Life, ya know. I took a spill (yeah, I guess we're at that time of life) and broke four ribs. It took them months to heal... don't want to do that again. Russ had emergency retina surgery this summer, and is doing well. We have 3 kids and five grandkids. Life is good!
My health has been an issue. The "MS" two doctors diagnosed was, in fact, Lupus. That was a low blow, and it gives me a run for my money, but I accept my life path and enjoy all the things I am able to do. I had to retire at age 61... I was the executive assistant fo the CEO of an online medical education/publishing company (now part of WebMD). LOVED it... the job I wanted since I was 15. I threw myself into indexing for the church, and until they moved over to AI (??!:) So before that happened, I achieved 2.1 million records. A drop in the bucket, but I was happy to serve! I am a good cook, I paint, I do needlework of all kinds, and I have turned the largest child bedroom into an office/craft room. It brings me great joy. Physically, I guess I am weak, but my mental status gets better every day. My memory is excellent, and I am currently working on Babbel to brush up on three languages, Portuguese, German, and Italian. I went back to school for a couple of semesters to learn Italian before a trip to Europe in 2009. I absolutely loved it. I even got to go back to Brazil from my childhood (this time with Russ in tow) and the Portuguese just rolled out of my mouth... quite the experience.. we went to the open house of the temple that was finally built in my home town of Curitiba.
I have grand plans of goingg to town with the serger and sewing machine this winter. I have a darling puppy named Rudy, and he has a place to hang out in my office when he's not with Russ. We own my parents' cabin in the township of Brighton, next to Solitude. We spent July-October there, recovering from our various health "speed bumps."
I hope you are well and happy. I love being 72, and I have a girlfriend to go walking with and getting out of the house to keep older age at bay. I am blessed beyond measure, and I am grateful for so much.
Love you. Please give me a call and your phone number, please! Kaye
