Steve was a real gent. He was quiet and thoughtful, smart and inquisitive, loyal and kind. We grew up across the street from each other and he was the first person I met when my family moved to SLC in 1959. Steve was my older brother's best friend and one could say "little brother" except that Steve was 6'1" and my brother has never been taller than 5'8". After getting his BS degrees in Biology for the U of Utah, Steve became a public health technician for the county of Salt Lake, running the biology laboratory that tested bats and other wild animals for rabies. Yep, that's true. He then went on to become an RN, and also got a Master's degree in Nursing. With his red hair, ready laugh and kind smile, Steve was a favorite of his patients and co-workers. After he quit a nursing tenure at the U of Utah hospital, Steve became a locum tenens ("to hold the place") nurse in various locations across the US. His knowledge of medicine and excellent nursing skills was invaluable as he stepped into nursing roles where and when he was needed. I would still be stuck in Physics 201 at the U if Steve had not bailed me out with his patient tutoring and sense of humor. I was blessed to have Steve Price as a dear lifelong friend. He is missed.
