Mission to Kobe, Japan, and back to BYU until I came out as gay (like y’all didn’t know) and got booted out and excommunicated in 1981. Worked 10 years in the hotel industry, as personnel director and acting GM at the Salt Lake Airport Hilton until an ownership change, and got six months of unemployment while I opened the Coffee Garden at the corner of 9th&9th in Salt Lake. Still enjoying the daily operation of the original location, though I also loved operating the Coffee Garden on Main inside Sam Weller’s books for 15 years.

Met my husband, Dieter Sellmair at the hotel in 1991 and asked him out after I lost that job. We’ve been together ever since.
