A few of us were playing Trumps in a house on Piikea Place in Foster Village. Mark Olmos, Nelda Alvarez, and I think Russ Okuma were there. We had just got back from hearing Hal Lindsay speak on "The Late Great Planet Earth." Nelda had this cool friend from the Big Island named Amanda who was visiting. Out of nowhere Amanda grabs me by the hand and takes me into the next room and she asks, "Do you believe what that guy was saying about Jesus is true--that He's coming back one day?" I said, "Yea, I suppose so." She said, "I believe it with all my heart." That night Amanda introduced me to Jesus Christ...now I believe in Him with all my heart. It was July 18, 1975, about 11:30 pm on a Friday night--just one day after Amanda had led Mark Olmos to Jesus. That one night set the course for my entire life since high school. Of all my cherished memories of Radford, that one sits right at the very top.
