The definition of what traditional churchgoers call “ministry” is always evolving. And while modern-day ministries adjust to the needs of the contemporary culture, the essence of what true ministry is must never change. Following Christ’s example, Elder Joycelyn is committed to functioning in the heart of true ministry: SERVICE.

Elder Johnson is anointed to serve servants. Called to the ministry at age 19 and ordained as an elder at age 22; Elder Joycelyn life has been committed to service. Her call to servanthood has driven her to establish Servants in Ministry (SIMIN), teaching other ministries how to support the vision of pastors, leaders, and other servants through the ministry of Helps.

From international conferences and crusades to smaller local gatherings, from crowded concert auditoriums to inner-city tent revivals and outreaches, Elder Joycelyn and Servants in Ministry have served with flexibility and ease in numerous settings.

Elder Joycelyn heart for service has been recognized across the country as well as at her local church, The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, where Bishop T.D. Jakes is the Senior Pastor.

At The Potter’s House she has become a vital part of the servant-related ministries, leading several service departments at once. Operated at one time as an Director of the Guest Relations Department, the 48 Volunteer Ministry Leaders at The Potter’s House, the Professional Ministry Technicians (ushers and greeters) and coordinating volunteer recruitment for all special events, conferences and crusades for The Potter’s House and T.D. Jakes Ministries, Elder Joycelyn is an exceptional servant, and a phenomenal servant-leader.

Elder Joycelyn has two children, Jamael and Jatovia Gary.
