He is survived by his son, Michael Leroy Swetnam; his daughter, Karen Lynn Swetnam; and his grandson, Tyler Williams.

Leroy grew up on the family farm near Plato and moved to St. Louis after high school. That is where he met his wife of 49 years.

He was a master carpenter until 1992, when he retired and moved back to the farm. He loved his family, cows and riding his four-wheeler. He enjoyed being a Lion and working very closely with them and the riders at the ATV Rodeos that he loved so much.

Chances are, if you saw Leroy out and about, his faithful dog, Julie, was either by his side or guarding their truck.

Leroy was a genuine man and true to his word with a wickedly sharp sense of humor. He was a good husband and a fantastic father and Gramps. He accepted people as they were without judgment. He worked hard all his life and had a kind and giving nature.

A Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Plato Christian Church with Eugene Earp officiating. Services and cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
