

Terry Dale Daniel, 77, of Tama, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Unity Point Healthy-Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a future date.
Terry was born on March 13, 1941, in Solo, Mo., the son of Loys and Dora Imogene (McKinney) Daniel.
He graduated from Houston High School in Houston, Mo. He was an exemplary athlete in all sports and in 1959 played on the conference championship football team.
On July 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Barbara Mast in Grundy Center, Iowa. Terry was employed at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for 39 years, retiring in 1997.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing. In 1972, he shot a 12-point buck that weighed 255 pounds field dressed. It scored 182 3/8 in the Boone and Crocket North American Big Game book and was ranked 72nd. He was an avid competition coon hunter and bred, raised, and trained his own bloodline of Treeing Walkers. Terry hunted in 21 different states and had three dual grand champions. He had the 1998 UKC World Championship Coonhound. He later raised beagles for competition rabbit hunting. He also raised six dual grand champions and four state champion beagles. Terry was known across the country for his hunting and his dogs.
He also enjoyed helping people throughout his life. Terry had a big heart and valued integrity in other people. He was a hard worker and always stayed busy.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara of Tama, Iowa; two children, Curtis (Debbie) Daniel of Fort Collins, Colo., and Sherry Daniel of Tama, Iowa; four grandchildren, Meshell Daniel, Seth Daniel, Taylor Daniel, and Jarrod Daniel; one great-grandson, Allias Bear-Daniel; two sisters, Joyce (Dewayne) Dunigan and Rita Ice, both of Houston, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Gearld Daniel; and one sister, Merna Brown.
A memorial fund will be established. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, assisted the family with arrangements.
