School Story:

I have lots of good memories of Broadway. I have been blessed to keep in touch with many people from school over the years. I have never really lost contact with those closest to me. Now thanks to technology we get to talk everyday.

One of my favorite memories was for my 18th Birthday when my little sister Stacey McLeod put a HUGE poster across the gym wall, wishing me a Happy Birthday...

Every morning riding to school with Lin and her letting me know when it was "clear" to get on the Freeway...because I was scared to turn my head! (because Tommy Hickman got me through drivers ed)--- Blaring Led Zeppelin in the Bronco with Lin!

I also loved all the fall festivals and times in Cheer and Drill. Drill Competition is a FOND memory as well as the trips to New Braunsfels with the Drill Team.

I loved our Homecoming Game when we really took over in the last few seconds of the game...and though she was my frienemy then--I love the fact that my best friend Stephanie won Homecoming Queen. Later as we got close, she told me as a little girl that is all she dramed of, was being homecoming queen...so that memory of her being crowned is special in my heart now...even though it hurt that night...it is one of my favorite memories of her and her handsome daddy Don.

I loved our renfest getaways and hayrides.
(That is now where I reside) I am thankful my parents provided that for us!

I loved rooming with Wanda, Kleo, and Lin on our trip to the Caymens. (Sneaking out the sliding glass door)

I thought it was neat that Stephanie and I virtually got the same car when we were 16 and 18 and just switched colors.

I remember Michael Morton purchasing me for Senior Slave day with the other Junior Boys and they treated me like a Queen!

I loved weekends with all my school friends, and I loved that I drug my niece Misty Jones everywhere we went and she was even our mascot. Thank you to all my friends for making her your friend. You were a good influence in her life and we share the same wonderful memories of Broadway.

I loved chasing surfers with Kari and going to the beach and showing off our bikinis! I loved initiating Theresa, Susan and Cheryl F.

I loved riding in Lisa's camero and wrapping houses with Cheryl T.

There is too much to name. I always kept in touch with Robby, Curtis and Trey... we all even traveled together for a few years in college.

The friends I made at Broadway hold near and dear to my heart.

I am thankful for the students, the teachers, the administration and the parents.

Going to Broadway inspired me to teach and later become a principal... I also retired at age 40 and because I retired I am able to spend lots of time with my Broadway friends.

And though I won lots of honors and things at Broadway -- being named 'most friendly' for several years is a memory I am very proud of.

PS.. I met the love of my life when I was in 7th GRADE at Broadway~ He lived in Alaska~ but I practiced many times writing Mrs. Cliff Sommerville after 1980...then finally married him in 2007! All my notebooks contained "Grace loves Cliff" and she still does!

Ps. Ps...It is really amazing that I actually made it alive, because very early on when I was very new and just a tiny little 7th grader at Broadway, me and Lin Joyner put our whole trust into a very trained and trust worthy crossing guard named Kari Puryear. We knew that we could trust her because she wore the orange and yellow vest and hat and carried the appropriate flag. Well one day while crossing the sidewalke from the Junior High, I believe Lin was whistling some sweet ol' religous song and I was singing and we were both carrying our Bibles and we were on our way to Chapel---to memorize Bible verses... of coarse, Kari let the flag up and not only did she let ONE HUGE 18 wheeler come through but this 18 wheeler was hauling a trailer with another 18 wheeler on the back, and since Lin and I were in the SPIRIT~ we were NOT paying attention and we were almost KILLED! so Kari became known from then on as "the one who almost Killed US"... she glared at us for a long time, until one day her brother Robby, who was my dear friend heard Lin and I taunting Kari and said "that is Yall?" "she comes home and it is upset about yall everyday"~ so after that we scooped her into our arms and made her OURS and never let her go! Kari and I wrote more notes than anyone in the world! I have drawn more surfer waves and skipped more classes with her than anyone!!! If you want to read her side of this story... read her profile... IT was a HUGE 18 wheeler...BLACK with...silver spikes and RED headlights!!!

I loved laying on her bed reading the back of her Eagles Album and reading the lyrics to "Hotel California" I thought about her as I dance to as the first dance at my first wedding...:-)
