I can remember, like it was yesterday being in Home Eco., with Kahty. Neither one of us wanted to take it but our mothers made us. We were always doing something fun to pass the time of getting out of that class. Great friends in school. As many of us know our class has always had a great time seeing each other. We have always tried to keep up with what were are doing and having gatherings. This is one reason why we always need to say hi. I'll miss her. Our prayers and thoughts go out to her family.Love you bunch Kathy.
It is so hard to lose a friend, especially one like Kathy. She and I grew up together and lived just one block apart on Harvard. I remember so much about her and her family starting way back in the early 60's. I remember her being at work with her father who was a butcher at a small store on 6th at Columbia. Many times she would be there when my dad would go in to buy meat from Mr. La Belle. While they talked, Kathy and I would talk. I learned she had liver cancer a few months ago. I also found out several of you girls who knew her went down to Harlingen to visit. You will be blessed in heaven for you warmth, kindness, and love. I know she appreciated the visit. I never heard anything but good things about Kathy all through school. She was a good person and my life is much emptier just knowing she is gone from this earth.
When I heard about Kathy's illness, I felt a need to reconnect with her and I'm so thankful that I did. She and I weren't exactly pals in school, but I know we must have had classes together and when she was around, there was fun to be had. What we DID do, was go to the Prom together. We actually triple-dated. She with Albert Nunez, and me with Charles Bechtold. We couldn't remember the other couple. We drove down to Sylvan Beach in our beautiful Prom dresses in Charlie's '66 Metallic Blue Chevelle Super Sport. It was quite the trip! Ha! I called her down in Harlingen a few months ago and we had great fun reliving that experience and talking about old friends. We e-mailed and spoke a few times. And laughed about something that would come to mind. She was able to do that on the good days. I could feel her spirit and see her smile through the phone lines. She knew her time was uncertain, but I think she was at peace with it. I feel an odd sense of loss for someone that I would love to have known better. I think when she arrived.....they turned to say...."Aahh......Here she is.....and she's brought that smile.

What I'll always remember most about Kathy is her smile. She truly could light up a room.Virgil Price
