Joel was a fine educator. He was a kind and understanding man but not someone to be toyed with. We need more educators like him. I also knew him from De Paul's Pizza. I used to wait on him. He suggested I should become an attorney because I had the gift of BS. LOL. I took his advcice literally and became one when I returned from Viet Nam. Ross aka "PIZZA BOY" De Paul
Mr Sturvidant was a great man in every way. He, his son, Ira Jones, & I were almost washed off the north jetties the day the astrounats landed on the moon. We had rhe day off for that. After we got off the jetty, I needed to call Donna as we would be late getting back to Houston. A teacher & his wife could not serve in the same school. So, Donna & I went to Richmond for our liscense (Harris County marriage licenses were published in the paper) & got married there. (7/5/69) We kept it quiet so we could teach summer school. We came to school in seperate cars. The next morning Joe called me into the office and ordered me not to speak a word or nod my head until he finished. He then said, "If you and Donna are married, keep it to yourself. I don't want to know about it." Craig Renolds, Joe Paul Wright & Ira Jones conducted the service
Since Mr. Sturividant's death we have lost Ira Jones & Ronnie Forrestor. We knew Ronnie was fighting cancer but Ira's death was a shock to Donna & me.
Mr. Sturvidant was a beautiful gentleman. He was an excellent educator with always a kind word and gentle smile. I look forward to being with him on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

Great guy. I didn't even mind the swats, and he was still laughing while he was giving them.
