Deana Sampson (Jenkins)

I'm sorry for your loss Kathy.
I have an update for Jacob, I will post it ASAP. Vicki sent a great idea about an announcement section and I am working to throw that up.
Jason Barnes and I are starting the groundwork on a fundraiser for Jacob as well. So anyone and everyone who can help, please shoot e a message here on the board or privately, however you choose. We are planning a fundraiser for him. BBQ Benefit so I need to know who is out there than can help cook, get food, have cooking pits, etc.
Thanks

Kathy you know we are here for you girl! Hopefully things will start to balance out in your life soon.

Deana-I was wondering if you had seen the email yet. I thought it was a good idea, glad you think the same. I just know that sometimes we have to put things on the back burner, then before you know it, you can't remember where you put it. You've sent out a lot of information that I had good intentions of going back and doing something in regards to them, but to find the email in my landfill of emails is almost impossible. I try to be overly organized in my daily life, but my online life is not so organized...LOL. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to have a section to go and look at and know that the info is right there!

To everyone that has kept Lauryn in your thoughts the ultrasound came back normal, as well as her iron levels. We are waiting on a few more lab test, but other than that things seem to be balancing theirselves out. So the only thing we can come up with is it was a simple hormone imbalance that was throwing everything out of wack. It's always nice to know that things were simply explained, but up until that moment it is nerve racking. Not to mention when everything is dealing around a mellow dramatic teenage girl....LOL. Cause you know they are just such a calm creature....LOL. You just want to sit back and say, I know I wasn't anything like that, but the truth is.....we were too at one time...LOL.

Hey Everyone!!!
V- glad to know that Lauri is ok! I was really starting to worry...I know my fault I forgot to call you back:)

Deana- Let me know how I can help, with Jacob, I suck at cooking but I could donate my time or something:) I have a folding table and we have those alumnium trays with the little burner thingies to keep food warm or cold...

Vicki Johnson (Patzold)

B-that isn't exactly what I was calling for, but that will teach you not to call me back in 5 mins like you said.....LOL.

What I was calling about I guess I'll share with everyone cause it cracked me up. I'm sure most of you are at least familiar with my pride and joy niece Mackenzie Grace. Well apparently she has named her rocking horse. My sister in law had to call me and tell me what she heard coming from my niece's room. Shelly was in the kitchen when she heard Kenzie yelling at the top of her lungs........"go moron, gitty up moron". She went in to check on her where Kenzie proceeded to tell her mom that that she was riding Moron! Next thing I knew my niece was on the phone telling me that moron was a good horse. That she was brushing moron's hair...LOL. I started laughing so hard. She was so proud to tell me about her horse named MORON......LOL. This kid comes up with some of the most off the wall things. The only thing that still beats all is...........She's awake you can go home now. I'll save the explaination of that story for another time, some time when everyone really needs a good laugh!

Holy Cow we have page numbers and post numbers? You know I almost think those numbers are like your weight.....sometimes you just don't want to know how big that number really is....LOL.

New Reunion Survey!
Please take a moment to participate!
I appreciate it!

03/05/09 01:16 PM #1964

Vicki Johnson (Patzold)

in regards to the survey, I'm thinking, I'll let you know. The other thing..........what Tey and Oscar Hinojosa don't count? I say we just tell them.......we have our own security. Personally I didn't realize there was that much invloved with doing it at a park. I've seen so many get togethers at parks and I swear I have never seen some of that other stuff in place. Besides, would it really kill people not to have drinking on the 2nd day? Granted after Friday, most might not even want to see a drink.......LOL

03/05/09 02:36 PM #1965

Deana Sampson (Jenkins)

That's true. I myself don't care about the drinking, but the option is available to those who do want it. I didn't mean to make that as a selling point, it just happened to be the rules available that I knew for sure I could list. Had I not, I would have had 10 people quick to ask the rules for drinking...LOL...It wasn't supposed to sound like a pro or con, it was just available info that I get asked about(emailed privately more than once). Those are the rules at the nicer parks like the Mary Jo Peckham that has a playground, outdoor pavilion with seating (which is what is reserved) for anywhere from 50 people to 250. There is a small pond/lake and a jogging trail. That time of year is extremely hot, so at either place you are looking at heat period. But you have to put down a deposit and I am just wary about plunking down so much money upfront myself and hoping that I will be recouped for it before it's refunded. Not that I don't love all my tigers, I just can't afford so much of the upfront cost we don't collect from pre-donations. Now, if you want to go plop down somewhere Like Melrose, Duessen..you have to have enough people willing to go early, grab space and everyone has to bring their own seating, extra pits, food, etc. (All parks do have rules for large groups.) That's alot of coordinating I just don't have time to take on. I don't particularly care, but being the one who would make arrangements and take up financially where we lack, I prefer not to get stuck with large expenses. I know people volunteer to help, to donate money, but time and time again, I am holding a bill. The Airline skating rink party is a perfect example...they wanted to reserve the rink and the only nights she had available were thursdays(out of my control) because she doesn't do private parties on Friday or Saturday nights which is convenient for most. Once I reserved the space, it was 400.00. Luckily she reserved me in pencil and allowed me to cancel, otherwise the 400.00 up front would have come from my pocket before the party. Had anyone even chipped in after the fact, I could kind of get a feel for people flaking out on me as the deadline came and I would have been stuck, money out of pocket. That is why I personally want something easy. Although people have the best intentions, things happen and I have learned the hard way that the more work, donations and volunteers you have to outsource for, the more work you end up taking on when things fall short.

I know not everyone is going to be happy, and rightfully so, as we are all different and have our own likes and dislikes. I know asking for opinions opens a can of worms, but sometimes I find good ideas and even better than what I start with. I hope you guys can just keep an open mind as a whole as opposed to very specific personal taste. If I had my choice and unlimited funds, it would be completely different, but I don't and I am working with what's available to me. I hope everyone will take a moment and look at the bigger picture which is us just being together, laughing and just having a really good time. It's only one weekend, then back to regular life. There will be a day when we are hectic, tired and cranky and in one tiny moment we will daydream on a day that was really just a great day, no matter where it was.

Overall, my goal is that everyone who makes it, has a really good time and goes away glad they came.

Have a great weekend little tigers! I'm heading outside to enjoy the beautiful sunshine...it's gorgeous, get out and enjoy it!
Deana

I completly understand girl! That is a lot of money to get stuck holding the bag on if no one or few people show up.

I have another story to share though. Lauryn my hard nosed little soccer player took a kick right to the face today during practice (3/5). She called me about 4 pm all frantic. She couldn't see straight, her nose was bleeding, and she had a chipped tooth! The girl that kicked the ball is the hardest kicker on the team and the kick came at point blank range (less than 3 feet). We were at the ER by 5 pm, that is after I drove to the school argued with her to leave practice and go to the hospital. Her coach had to tell her to go to the hospital, her running sprints were not as important. The best part was, we took priority over everyone else already sitting in the waiting room, thanks to the head trama. This was capped off by the nurse who came to get her having to watch her walk from the waiting room to triage...LOL. She was incoherent, swaying, speach slurred, plus she told him to quit moving......and he wasn't...LOL. She was taken straight back to a room, where they kept coming in ever 15 mins to have her tell the story again about what happened. They decided that her nose wasn't broken and after a CT decided that she had a slight concussion, but was ok to go home. I knew she was feeling better when she told me at about 8 pm that she was starving! It was at that point that she just wanted the CT results to hurry so she could get some food. I swear the only thing that comes between her and vollyball or soccer is food, and sometimes even food loses that fight. All in all, she's going to be ok, that was confirmed when the doctor told her she wanted her to sit out for a week and Lauryn told her fat chance...LOL.

Well Tigers I have some sad news for all of us "Chance" fans.I have been thinking about our reunion and thought I would find out something new on our Dancetown band or Jeff Chance himself. Well I tried to find a web-site on him and I came across an obituary with his name on it. It said his real name is Jeff Barosh and he was from El-Campo. I looked it up in the El-Campo news and there it was. He died on Dec.12,2008,53yrs old, from a heart-attack.He had 2 sons & 3 grandkids.I also seen that he just released a new cd last yr "Back Again"
I couldn't believe it. One of my friends just made me copies of his cds about a month ago.Anyways,I thought I would let yall know.

03/14/09 09:37 AM #1977

Deana Sampson (Jenkins)

Aw how sad. Thanks for telling us.

Hey Tigers,
Where have yall been? Hope everyone is doing well.Everyone must be very busy these days!!Spring-fever,I guess!Just wanted to say "HI" to everyone!

03/24/09 01:21 AM #1979

Rebecca Atchison (Welch)

Hey Sheryl...we are here...just all hiding on facebook...I told ya girl you gotta get one!!!

03/24/09 06:14 PM #1980

Vicki Johnson (Patzold)

Not everyone is hiding on Facebook. I refuse to get a facebook page......for that matter I got a myspace page just to shut a few people up (Becky and Deana). The only reason I even get on myspace still is because of soccer or volleyball.

Thursday - Sunday of this week is the only 4 days this month I don't have some kind of appointment. I met with my personal trainer every Tuesday, then there's soccer that keeps me busy. Oh yeah did I mention that this week started my husband's leave which means he's home each and every minute of the day!

I'm looking forward to the time when I can just sit around and do nothing!

03/27/09 03:36 AM #1981

Rebecca Atchison (Welch)

Well you could cancel your myspace page if you wanted. Esp since Deana has this one set up for us all now. Myspace at the time was just a great way for us all to be in contact. Facebook is just easier for me and doesn't take forever to load on my computer. I guess I should have been more precise and said some of us have it...it was really meant not to be taken so literal... Sheryl actually doesn't have either and we just happen to be discussing FB vs. Myspace at the last gathering. It's really no biggie.

Oh Everyone please pray for my Grandma. She is very ill and will probably pass soon. I am not sleeping well..duh...I just don't want her to suffer:( Which she isn't...but she is very frail looking. It really just sux and leaves me in a cranky sort of mood.
Irony?????
I will be having a new niece born today. Her name will be Adalynn Faye Welch. It will be a mixed emotion day. Guess it's God's way of reminding us that every beginning has an end.
