Beau Wann, Jr.

Hello everyone from Diane and Beau is looking over my shoulder making sure I am doing this right.

We met with 4 doctors today after he had a MRI yesterday at 9pm.  They still don't know where is came from, but it is a glioblastoma and very aggressive.  The tumor is growing and is angry causing swelling. They swelling causes the speech and motor skill problems. So they are increasing my steriods an they think it will help.  They feel that surgery is the best thing and will be next Thursday Feb.4.  It will be open brain surgery and Beau will be awake to assess his functioning during the surgery.

Between now and then we have a full schedule tomorrow of cognitive functioning and tomorrow afternoon for radiation oncology. Maybe we will be home Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  But MD Anderson is adding things constantly so we go when they call.  They work round the clock. They have been very very nice and helpful.  But there is HOPE!  They don't seem to be worried.  They are very positive!!

We go in Tuesday and Wednesday for more tests and then the surgery on Thursday.  We don't know what time yet. We will get a room at the Rotary House Hotel while Beau will be in the hospital for 3 or 4 days.  If all goes well, SUN will be shining and SON will be shining too.

Pam, my sister and brother-in-law Ed have flown in from Russia to help us.  They have been invaluable help taking care of our animals and overseeing our place at night and during the day while we are away.  They have also helped take care of Diane's parents when needed, so Pam and Ed have been able to come stay at our house when we need to be away over night.

We will try to update, but I have a lot of people to call, but you can call or text Diane's phone

7135600676 for updates.

Keep sis yhor s ix  "ride boldy ride..."

Frein and risident  MD Andernson Residentn ,   Cephus are hanging in there

Whew! That is a wild bunch of news, and sounds as though Wanns are at the right place, and in very good hands.  Praying continuously that Beau will come out recovered, just don't lose that wondrous gift of gab, Beau.

Diane and Beau, Wow, I am in agreement with so many of our classmates that you are both in the right hands. I will add mine in prayers every night that this surgery next week is a remedy. We are all getting to the ages of the Good LORD deciding our lives. May he have a hand on your shoulders.

Praying for Susan's recovery physically and for her loss of Sam.  He was such a kind person.
beau, we are really praying you through this surgery.  I am so childish when I saw the name Dr. DaGroot I immediatrly thought of the silly movie with thé thé space guy who looks like a tree.  His name was Groot.  Guardians of the galaxy.  That was the name.  You would never know

really wonderful blessing that family can take carr of animals and property while you are gone.  That stops a great deal of worry.

Beau & Diane:

Please know you have been and will be in my prayers. Know that God loves you (1John 4:19: we love Him because He first loved us) and He hears our prayers ( 1John 5:14-15: now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have ask of Him.) It is not His will for us to suffer from sickness and disease ( John 10:10: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may life, and that they may have it more abundantly.) Hold fast to your confession. I will hold on to mine ( Hebrews 10:23: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful ) and  my pray will be for both of you to stand strong in your faith, and for Beau’s doctors and nurses to have God given wisdom and knowledge in all that they do. All of God’s blessings to both of you. I will be lifting you up everyday and always be thinking of you.
God Bless,
Chuck Dent

Diane, thank you so much for helping to keep us informed of Beau's progress. I'm sure you are overwhelmed at this time and it's so thoughtful of you to think of all of us. It does sound like M. D. Anderson is hopeful, which certainly gives all of us hope for a positive outcome for Beau. We will all be praying for the two of you as well as the medical staff steering this ship.

Prayers also for Susan and all that she has been through, particularly, her loss of Sam.  If there is a recent update on Susan, I must have missed it, but I'm wishing her a speedy and complete recovery from this ugly virus.

Sandi Schlesinger (Stark)

Kay, I don't know when you are going to have your back surgery, however, I suspect we all still have plenty of prayers for your success. So many improvements and innovations in that field have made it more "routine" than the frightening surgery of years past. So glad your Grandson will be helping you so you can take the time to heel. Best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Sorry - "heal" - not heel.
Wish I could blame that on autocorrect but I think it was just me.

Ronna Brand

Beau and Diane. I can’t say anything in a better way than our other classmates have said, but I did want you to know that you have been and will continue to be lifted up in my prayers.  M D Anderson is exactly where you should be and with God’s hand on your shoulder; we know you will be back in Chappell Hill watching those bluebonnets pop up before you know it.  Take care, friends.

Ronna, we couldn't say it any better to Beau and Diane, than you just did! Thank you !

And our love, and respect, and prayers will continue to go up for both of them!

Carole Gunter (Snell) (Jenkins)

Thanks to all who wished me a Happy Birthday earlier this month.  And a special thanks to Judy Nelson Sterling who each year is so faithful in reminding me that I am older than she is.

Does anyone have an update on Susan?

01/29/21 10:07 AM #10302

Pat Brantley (Ross)

Johnnie, do you have an update on Susan?

i hope Beau and Diane are enjoying their weekend back home before returning to M D Anderson.  Praying for God's healing rest for Susan, Beau, and Diane.  It is difficult to pray for yourself when you are in the middle of the storm.  I know quite a few classmates are interceding for them now.

Well me again Margaret..!   I touhgt I try to here once agin,  I miss talk all everyone!   Tank youse so much for all and preyers and wish wihse.   But gess you can my ttyping abd spelling need sone work.   Daine said would mee...here here diane....

We want to keep Susan in our prayers.

On a scale of 1 to 4 on brain cancer, 1 being the best and 4 being the worst, I have a 4. And it's a rare of a rare form and they still don't know what it is or where it came from and why there are 2 of them.  MD Anderson called me today and want me to be a case study of my brain since I am the only one.  They want to monitor my brain forever.  I asked them if I would get paid, but no reply.  But I will do the study because it could help a lot of people.  It will mean a lot of MRIs and they are already studying my DNA and the tumor's DNA to determine what the heck I got into.  I have 3 MRIs scheduled next week.

But we are feeling positive however this comes out.  I make walk with a limp and talk with a lisp, but I am good because I have walked with a limp my whole life.  All I want to do is be me.  I want to enjoy sunrise and sunset on the hill and hope we can have a party on the hill sometime.  You will recognise me by my Frankenhead and I may be limping and talking funny, but I'll be here.

All the doctors say the surgeon has a magic touch and magic fingers.  He does these surgeries every day.  He is liscensed in many, many countries and teaches at UT Medical school and Baylor Medical. Hope this won't be his first bad day-ha!  I have at least 6 doctors now!  Probably more I don't know about.

We are very grateful for the cards, notes and great encouragement we are getting from all our Waltrip friends.  It helps us.  I know it is helping Susan in this bad time for her.

Keep safe, keep well, Cephus R Hanging In There and Diane! smiley

Beau says the worst part is having to learn the remote control over again, not that I watch anything anyway. But I just like to see what else is on.  Ok that's all folks!

Jimmie Lee Smith (Brawner)

I'd like to ask for prayers for our classmate Ruthellen Winters Schmidt.  She will be having surgery on Monday.  An angioplasty showed blockages of 100% and 90% and she will have a triple bypass and valve replacement.

She is in ICU over this weekend.  I will keep y'all posted next week.

Triple by-pass is scary at first but gets less so every day. After I had mine I was surprised at the number of our friends and family that had come through them. God is always in control and will see you through if we but trust in Him. Prayers for all the class of 64!
