I have a beautiful, amazing grandchild, Matthew,
who has Autism. One in every 8 little boys are now diagnosed with Autism. My daughter Missy and son-in-law Bryan have been wonderful parents for their child, early intervention, educating themselves about Autism and being involved in the Autism community. They advocate for him in every way possible.

I also have a passion for the March of Dimes, their
work on learning how to prevent premature birth. My son Brian and daughter-in-law Bridget lost two precious twin baby boys that were born just a little too early. They passed away later in the day that they were born. This past year my grandaughter Carrie and her husband Eric lost their baby boy in the same exact way.

These premature births are happening way too often and leaving families devasted by the loss of their babies.

Not exactly a high school story, but...about 20 years ago my husband and I were in Santa Fe and happened across a painting that I fell instantly in love with. The artist name was James(Jim) Rabby and I kept saying that his name was familiar to me. It was toward the end of the week and the gallery manager wanted us to come back in on Saturday to meet the artist. She told us about many famous people and a past president that owned this artist works. We were never guests in any of these peoples homes. On Saturday morning we went back to the gallery to meet the artist, in talking to him I told him that he seemed familiar to me. After finding out that his hometown was Houston, I ask what high school that he went to...
WESTBURY! He went on to tell me that he had started out his career doing side walk sales of his work in Westbury Square. It always amazes me that we live in such a small world. We did buy the painting and I still love it!

I feel blessed beyond description for all of the life experiences I have had, Bill(my husband, married in 1972), all four kids and grandchildren. My married life has not always been easy, but we have worked out the "kinks" and are proud and happy that we are growing old together.I am amazed at our children and their spouses, they are such great parents to their children,they have each made good career choices and each of them are wonderful human beings. I have also been blessed by several very dear long time friendships.
