Graduated from Southwestern University in 1982. Married a Spring Woods graduate in 1985. Brian and I moved to Austin in 1986 and continue to love it here - although it has grown up around us!
I retired after 35 1/2 years of teaching both physical education and special needs children. I still love teaching kids, however, so my retirement gig is teaching PE to Home School kids at a local gym!
We are grandparents and are loving it! Mattie is 2 1/2 and James is almost 1!
They belong to our oldest daughter and her husband, Jamie & Ryan Koch. They live in Dallas and both have great careers. It is amazing watching them parent!
Our youngest daughter, Kelsey, has embraced Austin! After graduating from Southwest Texas State and spending some time in Australia, she is now pursuing her passion of being in the food industry! She dreams of owning her own food truck one day!
The summer after our 30th reunion I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer - not something anyone expected or saw coming! After 2 surgeries, 12 rounds of chemo and with the love of my family, support of friends and colleagues, treatment by amazing doctors both in Austin and at MD Anderson and loads of prayers from all around the world - I am celebrating my 9th year being cancer free! Life is precious! Take care of yourself and listen to your body!
Since my parents moved to Austin in December of my senior year at WHS, I was not able to return to Houston from college on holidays and summers and, therefore, did not keep up with many friends from the neighborhood. Most of my memories revolve around band, proms, Young Life and the many activities that I was involved in at my church Memorial Drive Methodist Church.
Lots of adults poured into my life in high school - my parents Harriet & Joe Cavness, Jim & Earlene Loden, Noe Marmolejo, Kim Talley, Margaret & Larry Kennedy. I have spent time both through my career, my church and in my community hoping to offer to young people some of the patience, support and time which was shared with me.
I am hoping to get to get to our 40th reunion - but in case I don't I hope you all have a great time! Feel free to reach out on FB - I finally got an account - Linda Kay Rose (can't figure out how to add the Cavness yet:(
