From Kevin's Obituary:

Kevin Henson McIntosh, 58, took his last ride on October 9, 2021, in Flower Mound, Texas. He was born September 5, 1963, to Thomas and Jean McIntosh in Palo Alto, California.

He began his education in Holland. After three years in Dutch schools, the family returned to Houston where he ultimately graduated from Memorial High School. At Memorial, he competed in track and field, played basketball, and started a rock band. He held the district record for long jump for three years. A devoted Aggie, he graduated from Texas A&M University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He started his career in clothing manufacturing with Haggar in Dallas and then moved to the San Francisco Bay area where he worked for apparel retail companies and made the transition to information technology. His career led him to Chico’s in Fort Myers, Florida, and it was there that Kevin met Kim and found his love, his partner in life. The road led them back to Houston where he was an IT executive.

It was his family that filled his heart with joy. He adored Kim and she him. They were devoted to each other. He was especially proud of his children whom he loved, always sharing their accomplishments and spending time with them. They all inherited his love of sports and athleticism, as well as his competitive spirit.

Kevin had a love for mountain biking, snow skiing, the Houston Astros, Texas A&M football and travel. Kevin and Kim’s travel adventures began with their wedding in Napa Valley, California. Some of their favorite destinations were Alaska, Hawaii, Bordeaux, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and Las Vegas. Kevin, Kim and Mason recently moved to Highland Village in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and he was enjoying all the new bike trails.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Garland and Doris McIntosh and Truman and Audrey McDougald. He is survived by his wife, Kim; his children, Nicole, Jacob, Isabella, and Mason; his parents, Thomas and Jean McIntosh; his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Scott Stubblefield; and his sister-in-law, Andrea Myers.

Kevin was an incredible athlete, great friend, and an wonderful person. We were friends from the his first day at Memorial Junior High, throughout high school, and attended YoungLife camp together at Windy Gap. Kevin excelled in sports because he optimistically saw every challenge as an opportunity, no matter the odds. He inspired his friends, teammates, bandmates, and classmates by enthusiastically showing that issues and obstacles were not valid excuses.

We lost touch as we went off to different colleges and like with many of us, life carried us in different directions.

It was several months ago that I discovered that Kevin had passed away soon after moving to my little part of the world, spending his final days in the same local hospital where my wife was receiving treatment. I sure would have liked to have seen him.

We have since become friends with Kevin's wonderful wife Kim. Kevin's son Mason is maintaining his dad's legacy as he's a star soccer player at Flower Mound Marcus High and has applied to follow in his father's footsteps at Texas A&M.

Sunday, October 9, is the anniversary of Kevin's passing. Kim offered to share a few pics from Kevin's life after high school.

For 2 1/2 years Kevin walked me to classes while holding my books.  I was blessed to call him my boyfriend.  He was the type of guy that always looked out for me and made me feel special.  But that's how Kevin was with most people.  Whether he was running on the track team, setting records in the long jump, playing in his band "One Night Stand", or just hanging out with friends, Kevin was all in.  He had a way of making those around he feel heard.  He excelled at most everything he did.  He had a tender heart and a kind spirit.  He was truly an exceptional person.

Kevin was one of my best friends in middle school and through high school.  He was like a brother.  He was always protecting me, watching out for me. encouraging me.

I remember one event vividly.  Our sopheomore year, We had our homecoming dance in the cafeteria.  Anyone remember that?  My date was a guy a class ahead of me.  He was nice but as the night went on, he was way too forward and I didn't feel safe with him.  At the dance, I told Kevin and he said he would glady give me a ride home after the dance.

I also loved adventure in Kevin.  Several times, our sophomore year, after football games, he would let me drive his camero even though I didn't have my license.

Even though, our lives took different paths, he will always have a special place in my heart.  He was kind and protective and I'm thankful to call him, brother and friend.
