Reunion Cancellation

Informal Reunion Gathering – Pier 500 - Saturday, June 12th at 4:00 p.m.
The Informal Gathering for the Hudson Class of ’90 will take place at Pier 500, located at 500 1st Street in Hudson, beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 12th  Please note, this is an informal gathering, and there will not be a special section for us; as this is high season for all establishments of this type in Hudson, all space will be given on a first come, first served basis. The Pier 500 patio offers guests beautiful views of Lakefront Park and the St. Croix River – and a rockin’ Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. even on Saturday! We encourage you to come early to get a seat and hope to see you all there. For more information on Pier 500, please visit www.pierfivehundred.com.

Future Reunions – 21st Reunion?
Just because we grew-up in conservative ole Hudson, WI, doesn’t mean we can’t be a bit unconventional! How about a 21st Reunion to take place in the summer of 2011? We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this, and we are also still searching for someone to take the reigns and make this happen

Cancellation Notice:

Dear Classmates:

It is with a heavy heart that I am delivering this information. After careful consideration, the formal Hudson Class of ‘90 20th Reunion set for June 12th is hereby cancelled. We will keep you posted on plans for an informal gathering in Hudson on that same weekend; more information to follow this week.

After numerous attempts to increase our registrations over the past few weeks, we are just over 25 people short of our bottom-line; or just over $1,500 for those of you who would like a monetary viewpoint. For those of us who have worked very hard on this event for the past 9 months, this is a great disappointment and truly a last resort.

We cannot apologize enough for those of you who have purchased plane tickets and made your travel arrangements; we realize this is a hardship and one we tried desperately to avoid.  To those of you who have given of your time to try and make this Reunion something for everyone and to those of you who have expressed so much enthusiasm for this event, we also apologize.

Possibly the one positive aspect that has come from the planning of this year’s Reunion was the creation of our class website www.HHSClassof90.comWe own this domain and the annual costs for this site are minimal ($120 a yearwe will seek donations from classmates each year to help cover these costs moving forward); it is also free for all classmates to join and you can decide how much or how little information you wish to share about yourself. I want to make sure everyone understands, your information is kept in the utmost of confidence by me personally and will not be shared with any outside parties without your prior consentIf the privacy rules are ever to change, we will take our domain and move elsewhere. This site will continue to be our primary means of communicating with classmates for any future announcements and events (until something better than the Internet comes along), and we will continue to try and locate classmates as the year’s go by to strengthen its effectiveness for future Reunions. Please know the website will automatically send you two emails a year (once every 6 months) to make sure your information is current; we respectfully ask that you take the time to comply.

Next Steps

Reschedule: At this time, there are no formal plans for a reschedule of this event. As disappointing as this is, that disappointment is greatly magnified by those of us that have participated in the planning of this event. With having a less than 2-month window to try and accommodate classmate holiday and family schedules, we simply not do have the time or will to try and pull something of this magnitude together. There is no guarantee that we will not run into the same situation, and at this time no one has expressed interest in taking on the financial liability. As we mentioned above, there will be an informal gathering in Hudson scheduled for the weekend of June 12th and we will get you all this information as soon as we have it.

Refunds: All ticket fees will be refunded in full, with the exception of the 4.9% credit card processing fees for those of you who paid by credit card. Please contact me directly with any refund questions you might have.

·         Credit Card Purchasers: Unfortunately, our system is not advanced enough to simply refund this fee back to you credit card. We will be cutting and mailing your refund checks – minus the 4.9% credit card processing fee – on June 4, 2010.

·         Check Payments: For those of you who paid by check, none of your checks have been cashed. You have until June 4, 2010 to request that your check be physically returned to you by mail. If we do not hear from you on or before June 4, 2010 your check will be shredded.

NEW Reunion Chair Request: The Hudson Class of ’90 is seeking a NEW Reunion Chair. If you are interested in filling this position, please contact me directly. We are happy to share all pertinent information to assist you with your success moving forward. Please know that there is a great deal of financial liability that comes with this position and the time commitment can be challenging, but the majority of our class is very kind, enthusiastic and grateful for your efforts.

Again, we are extremely apologetic for any and all inconveniences this cancellation has caused, and I hope you know just how much we truly tried to avoid this.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions, comments or concerns you might have and I wish you all the best.

Most sincere regards,

Mia
