I knew Bill for over 50 years. I Will always remember our young days on 6th place in Port Hueneme. Buddy Kelly lived across the street from Bill and I lived around the corner on Pearson. We were friends all through school. He worked at Pacific Sod as a driver for 40 years. He stopped by to see me a couple of years ago at Oxnard College where I worked. We had a nice long visit remembering our past years as friends. That was the last time I saw him. RIP Bill. Your long time friend.... Danny Robison.

I am so sorry to hear this.  Bill was a great guy, went all through school with him but kind of lost track in high school with me being gone for 2 years to Alaska.  All through grade school and Jr High he was one of my favorite people.  Makes me sad. L

RIP Brother, I saw you about 1971 after we got back from Vietnam. You were working at Chase Bros Dairy on Channel Islands Blvd.and Ventura RD. You gave me all the stuff I was buying and told me take care brother. I thanked you a lot. I really didn't make much money back then and that help feed my family. I thank you from the bottom of my heart Billy. So sorry you are gone. I wish I could have seen you again. Take care Brother and RIP..Your battle with Vietnam is over.    I first met Bill when we were both about four or five years old.  My parents had moved our family from Somis to Oxnard around 1954.  I lived at the corner of 905 South E Street and 9th Street right across the street from Driffill School.  Bill and I both attended kindergarten and part of first grade at Driffill.  I had met him and his mother as they walked by our house one day.  We became friends and schoolmates.  Sometime in 1956 his parents decided to move away.  I thought I had lost my first friend.  However, a few months later my mother came to me and advised me that we were also moving and just by chance we bought a house right across the street from where Bill had moved.  Of course, we got our friendship going again right away.  At that time the school down the street from us was not yet open so we had to do double sessions at Bard School on Pleasant Valley Road. I think we ended up in different sessions so it made hanging out difficult.  Finally, Parkview School opened and we both attended there mostly being in the same class.  During those days we played Little League Baseball, football at Parkview, over the line and spirited games of wiffle ball in the street.  I had a teatherball in the driveway and those sessions went into the night.  Of course, we got into a few situations but mostly we were good kids.

Sometime shortly after arriving on 6th Place another kid showed up.  He lived around the corner on Pierson Rd.  His name was Danny Robinson.  He was just like us and we all became good friends.  We played army for many an hour across the street from Danny's house.  We dug forts in the ground and got very dirty.  It was fun hanging out with those guys.  One night Bill and I were staying over at Dan's and during the night we heard this scratching sound. We were certain that someone bad was coming to get us.  This went on for awhile until we finally figured out that Dan was responsible.  He had this long toe nail and was scratching the base board making the scary noise.  When we found out we all laughed like hell.

Bill was a big kid and occasionally I would get in over my head and would need a little backup.  He was always willing to give me a hand when I needed it.  It could get a little scary in old Hueneme sometimes and having friends was a good thing.  I am glad Bill was my friend.

The last time I saw Bill was in the early 70's.  He had stopped by a local pool hall to see me.  It was draft days at that time and things kinda got messed up.  I wish I had stayed in contact with Bill.  I had no idea he was living right here in Ventura County.  I never forgot our days running around together.  And I won't.

Have many found memories of Bill. First met Bill in the 5th grade when we moved to Hueneme. He gave Cheryl Williams and I a bad time. Was great fun.

May you all find peace in the good life and many memories we all share.

RIP Bill.
