Jessie graduated Hugo High School in the class of 1961 as salutatorian. In 1965 she earned her Bachelor’s  degree in Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and began her career as  a long-time educator. She enjoyed sewing, genealogy research and reading and collecting books by her favorite authors. She once won the watermelon seed spitting contest at the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival. She won many awards for her sewing skills. Her former students recount how she helped them with life skills and told her many times about how they wished their children could have her as a teacher. Jessie was a member of the Chickasha First Baptist Church for many years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jessie is survived by her son, Joshua Dale Fordy of Chickasha, OK; grandchildren, Kayleigh Rae Fondy, Ethan Fondy, Jaxynn Fondy, Parker Fondy and Ellie Fondy; sisters, Goldie Jean Caldwell of Gatesville, TX, Frances Hamill Harrison of Hugo, OK, Marion Durham of Granbury, TX, and Susan Hunter of Dallas, TX; brother, Mark Hamill of Hugo, OK along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
