Obituary from Hugo Daily News, 1/7/2011:

Funeral services for Garth Dale "Moose" Hampton will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with the Rev. Doug McClure officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Dale passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in Durant, Okla. He was 67.

Moose Hampton was born June 4, 1943, in Hugo, Okla., the son of Garth and Ruth (Hunkapillar) Hampton. He was raised in Hugo. Moose worked as a lineman and traveled the country in his profession, spending several years working in Saudi Arabi. He returned to Hugo fulltime in 1981 and got heavily involved in the Little League program. His passion was working with and helping kids through coaching baseball. He spent many years as the commissioner of the Hugo Little League. His special joy in recent years was watching his granddaughters play softball.

Moose is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Krista Hampton of Durant; one niece and husband, Amy and Wade Scott of Hugo; one aunt, Ruby Percival of Paris, Texas; three cousins: Monda Fugett of Reno, Texas, Gretta Lee of Oklahoma City and Frances Harrison of Midwest City, Okla.; two granddaughters: Sydney and Charley.

[Both of Moose's parents preceded him in death.  Within the last year, Moose was also preceded in death by his sister, Janet, who was three years behind him in school, graduating in 1964.]

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo.

As a special request of the family, instead of sending flowers or plants, please make a donation to the Hugo Little League.

Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences to the family at www.praterlampton.com.
