Graveside services for William Charles Smith, fondly known as Smitty or W.C., will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery pavilion on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 2:00pm., with Rusty Rankin officiating. William went to be with his Lord on October 6, 2019, in Sherman, Texas at the age of 76.
William Charles Smith was born September 17, 1943, to Bill W. Smith and Margaret Mae (Chronic) Smith, in Hugo, OK. He married the love of his life, Shirley (Payne) Smith, on September 19, 1964, and were blessed with 55 years of marriage. He moved to Denver, Colorado in 1987, then came back home in 2004. Smitty proudly served his country for 4 years in the Army reserves; he loved to fish, hunt, listen to music, and watch sports. He absolutely loved his grandchildren, and never missed their softball games. Smitty was his granddaughters’ biggest fan and loved spending time with them.
Smitty was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Smith; his twin sons; and his sister, Betty Smith.
Smitty is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, of the home; sons, Will Smith, and his wife, Christina, of Hugo, OK, and Jay Smith, and his wife, Joy, of Arvada, CO; granddaughters Bailey Cody and Karlie Smith; great-grandchildren, Cooper Cody and Sutter Cody; special sister-in-law Pat Payne, of Antlers, OK; special caretaker Stephanie Fox; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great-nephews.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hugo, OK.
