I am excited and interested to hear from all of you! My ties to Oklahoma have never been severed; I still have family in Hugo. I married June 21, 1960 and lived in Denver City, Texas. While there, I went to school where I became and worked as a professional hairdresser for thirteen years; my oldest two daughters graduated from school there. My husband worked for Southwestern Public Service as an electrician, and in 1981, when he was promoted to electrical foreman, we were transferred to Muleshoe, Texas. I went to work for the post office as a rural route carrier after we had been here a few years. I drove a route that was 100 miles a day. I spent twenty years in this job, and I really did enjoy the people I worked for on my route. My other two children graduated from here. Although all of my kids have college hours, my youngest two are college graduates; they both graduated from Texas Tech University. Also, my oldest daughter gave us our only granddaughter, Shay, while our youngest daughter has our only grandson, Dustin. This year, Delmar and I have been married for fifty years; he turned seventy in October, and our first great-grandbaby is on the way (born January 11, 2011). The day of Delmar's retirement party on Dec. 31, 2007, my eye messed up. I was diagnosed in January 2008 with a brain tumor. I was operated on Feb. 13, 2008, spent 17 days in Surgical ICU, spent 49 days in the hospital, but I'm still here! The tumor has not grown or changed since the surgery, but I still deal with the effects of it daily. I loved working as a rural route carrier, but with the tumor, I had to medically leave the job. My short term memory is terrible, but my long term is great!! My life is not the exact same life I had before the tumor, but I can honestly say that I have a great life. I cannot wait to hear from all of you and hopefully see you in the very near future.
