Obituary from Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Website, 8 Jan 2025:
Nancy Brandon, a beacon of love and selflessness, departed from this world on January 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on February 15, 1943, in Forester, Arkansas, Nancy's life was a testament to the power of devotion and the strength of familial bonds. She passed away peacefully in Hugo, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a family that adored her.
Nancy's journey began as the daughter of Jimmy and Joice Wilkie, and she grew up surrounded by the love of her brothers Donald, David, and Gary Wilkie, and one sister, Joyce Ann Dickerson of Hugo Oklahoma. Her path eventually led her to the love of her life, Jimmy Brandon, whom she married on August 7, 1961, in Ft. Towson. Together, they embarked on a life filled with mutual respect and unwavering support, a partnership that lasted 63 years.
As a devoted mother to her three sons, Dwayne and his wife Dana, Danny and his wife Kim, and Larry and his wife Vickie, Nancy was the cornerstone of her family. Her nurturing spirit extended to her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her lessons of love and compassion.
Nancy's life was marked by her thoughtful and selfless nature. She dedicated herself to creating a warm and welcoming home, a sanctuary for all who entered. In the early 2000s, Nancy and Jimmy returned to Ft. Towson, where they built their dream home on Lake Raymond Gary, a place that would become a gathering spot for celebrations, laughter, and countless memories.
Her life was not defined by a career in the traditional sense, but rather by the work she did within the walls of her home and the community, as she was an active member of all activities at the First Baptist church of Ft. Towson, Oklahoma. Nancy's association with life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, a role she cherished and in which she found profound fulfillment.
Nancy was a living example of what it means to be loving, thoughtful, and selfless. She approached each day with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit that uplifted those around her. Her presence was a gift, and her legacy is one that will continue to inspire and motivate all who were blessed to know her.
As we reflect on Nancy's life, we are reminded of the power of a single individual to make a profound impact on the world. Her story encourages us to love deeply, to give generously, and to put the needs of others before our own. Nancy's life was a beautiful demonstration of the enduring strength of the human spirit.
We bid farewell to Nancy, a woman who lived her life as a shining example of the best of us. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will serve as a guiding light for generations to come.
