Mary Jane Jeffrey Cannon

After graduating from HHS, I attended OSU. As some of you well know, I was quite into the Hippy scene. Although I am not proud of the lifestyle I led, it was a growing time and I learned alot about life and people. I became a Christian my last year of college and HE changed my life drastically!!
I had planned to join the Peace Corp and serve in Micronesia but backed out at the last minute. ( I often wonder how different my life would have been had I gone!)
After graduation, I came back to Hugo and got a teaching job at Swink and bought a horse with my first paycheck!
Mark was in Hugo and although we had gone our separate ways after HHS, we got married soon after I came back.
We have raised 3 really great children. They are all successful and the oldest two are wonderful parents. Our youngest is getting married in Aug.
I taught elementary art for 10 years in Shawnee and loved it, but am now retired!! (Mrs. Burk would be proud!!!)
Being Meme is the best part of life so far! My favorite thing to do is to take the train to Dallas and my daughter and grandkids pick me up!

I am still a hippy at heart in that I am a free spirit and if I could do what I really wanted to do I would love to serve as a missionary somewhere. I have done short term missions to China and Equador.
I think growing up in Hugo and being friends with all of you guys was a blessing. We were pretty innocent and were able to enjoy simple things, feel safe, and lots of fun and didn't even have comoputers or cell phones! Imagine that!!! I look forward to seeing all of you in June!!!

Those of us that were in Spanish Club took the train to Mexico City. It was quite an experience! I remember Mrs. Meyers teaching us to say, "No puede ir gracious" (I can not go, thank you)
I also remember us running out to do a cheer and they were just telling the lineup of the program and it wasn't time to do it. How embarrassing!!
